Is there a fan base that overrates it’s players more than the Celtics fans. ... Best move is to move Smart and pieces for Simmons

Case in point?

abusele was in there making key plays for France in crunch time

Yet he never made one key NBA play his whole career.  He was complete garbage.
Which to me puts the significance of today's loss in perpective. Total choke job but it also sounds like a typical Celtics game from the past season - too many 3's, not enough passing and a team not playing up to the level of its talent.  And Tatum was involved.

Is there a fan base that overrates it’s players more than the Celtics fans. this team is so poorly constructed it’s not even funny. Best move is to move Smart and pieces for Simmons. or you move Brown for Liliard or Beal
You should see Lakers fans and their delusional takes on Talen Horton-Tucker and Alex Caruso

Laker fans put the ‘D’ in delusion. their latest is saying they are going to get Tatum.

They think they're getting everyone! Their package of Schroder, THT, Caruso and KCP is apparently enough for guys like Lillard ;D

USA opponents are doing a great job at controlling the pace of the games, the USMNBT team should be scoring 90+ points every game.

Integrating a set of new players to a foreign system has to be one of the most difficult tasks for a coach. International teams are picking up where they left off, while they’re learning on the fly. Popovich should place an emphasis on transition offense and a simplified defense w/ no switching and 2 players crashing the boards.

Side note: this is a learning moment for those that propose trade after trade. Chemistry is important!

We need this guy:

Thought that was Tacko Fall for a moment. They both have that deliberate motion.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The lack of true bigmen is killing the US team.

All thanks to AAU. They basically killed big men straying away from fundamentals and focused more on street ball

Gobert was completely and utterly neutralized by the Clippers.  The Clippers aren't exactly big.  The US squad is new (just added 3 players in the last day) and just doesn't have a lot of cohesion and France is really good.  Just a tough way to start.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

To be clear, Popovich is horrified by his own record coaching this team. He dwells on it and hates the losing. The players are frustrated, too, grumbling on their way back to the locker room about “running the San Antonio offense” when apparently they feel like there are better ideas. Pop has said, because of the truncated nature of Team USA’s training camp, the offense would be based on “concepts” instead of set plays

Great to see Joe true to form stirring the pot as always. I thought a lot of the players that accepted (e.g. Durant, Dame) did so because they wanted to play for Pop?

Was I the only person shocked to see Zach Lavine play so many minutes in the fourth quarter, especially closing out the game?

The Pop question has crossed my mind. His spot in the NBA coach's pantheon is unimpeachable but maybe his approach to the international game isn't working.

We can talk about international players getting better, and national teams having more cohesion but the reality is that when Yabu was playing in the NBA everyone in the Olympic team right now would've looked at him like lunch if he was in front of them. What changed? It's still basketball. Our team should be eating these defenders alive.

You forget that in the NBA Yalu would not be allowed to breath on anyone on the USA team without being called for fouls. They need to suck it up and stop whining.
