First, don't get me wrong - I like Marcus Smart. I am not sure about the Rondo, Bradly, Smart synergy - but if Rondo is moved, I can see Smart as a solid starting PG in our future.

That said, Vonleh is:
A. Huge
B. Mobile
C. Soft hands

He is putting up about 9/9 in the SL in about 27 minutes. His shooting is aweful - but it will improve since we know he can shoot. Big men take longer to develop - and SL is always dominated by guards. Gurgui Deng was really bad starting last season and now looks like a legit two way center.

Could Vonleh have been our Center of the future? He is basically Andre Drummond Size, and more skilled (though less athletic).

All the choices are too extreme.

5. No, the Celtics wont regret selecting Vonleh who will become a pretty good role player. The celtics were better off selecting Marcus Smart, a future all defensive guard who is going to give you a little of everything.

I think Vonleh is Lamar Odom 2.0.

He has wing skills, can float in and out of games - no killer instinct, and has tremendous under the rim physical tools - length and big hands and a nose for rebounding.

Also i would scrap the Vonleh to Drummond comp.

Vonleh cant jump like Drummond, and he is 2 inches shorter. Vonleh is 6-8 without shoes vs 6-10.

Also there was nothing about Vonleh in college that suggested he could be an intimidating defensive center with excellent shot block timing. Drummond on the other hand is at least a poor man's version of a young Dwight Howard.

Vonleh is no slouch at leaping with a 37" leap but I agree he can't jump like Drummond.

I think we will be fine without Vonleh.   Scared of big ten bigs after Jajuan Johnson.

Vonleh looks small and overmatched in summer league.  Can only imagine how he will look in NBA.

I was really big on Vonleh. His length and size are great for the NBA. Only time will tell with him. but for someone who can jump 37'' he lacks explosiveness . he should be dunking on EVERYTHING...

I can't really decide if Vonleh is going to do much in the NBA. The 6'8" factor bothers me, given that he's really supposed to be a big man (PF or C). That size on the wing would be insane. But in the paint, it's just okay at best. From there, it all comes down to determination, work ethic and talent/skill level. I'm not sure his pure physical tools are enough to make him a star.

No. Vonleh is going to be a bust. Hard to explain but he just doesn't have "it."

If I'm wrong, I'll eat all the crow in the world but I fully and confidently expect him to have an Ekpe Udoh-Like career trajectory.

Will we regret not taking Vonleh?

It depends on who we get for Rondo.

From what I read Boston wasn't taking him anyway because of character concerns they had with him so if that is the case there is no way I would regret not taking him. Maybe he gets the things the Celtics were worried about taken care of but with the 6th pick you can't take that chance.

We'll regret not taking TJ Warren.  He's scoring 26 ppg over three games on ~65% shooting in summer league.  So... almost exactly what he did in the ACC for 3 straight years.  Who woulda' thought?

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

First of all, I really wanted Warren at 17 and I do think he'll be a stud. I've said before the draft he can be the Paul George of this class, not in how he plays but in a similar career trajectory after being drafted late lottery.

With that said.. It's summer league. And as high as I am on Warren, I still wouldn't have taken him top-10.
