If we went out and got all these new younger and faster players, why is Rondo walking the ball up 9 of 10 times?
This is a decent question. Although I think what it comes down to is getting stops. It is really hard to run off made baskets in todays NBA, despite what Tommy might tell you. Between the refs always allowing guys to delay the game on made baskets without calling it, and the overall athleticism, defenses usually get back after a made basket. Not to mention, with their lack of rebounders, they can't really leak guys out. I do think they need to make a more concerted effort to run a bit more, but I think it won't truly make a difference until they start getting stops and defensive rebounds.
If we're getting crushed on the boards, why do we have 3 7 footers sitting on the bench?
7 footer does not equal a good rebounder. Rebounding is about positioning and in the C's system, it is about rotations. Right now, they are to slow in the rotations in the first place to even get stops, which puts them even more behind to getting the rebounds.
While it wouldn't hurt to have a bigger guy in there to grab the rebounds, if they are not making the rotations, there won't be rebounds to grab, and they will be even further out of position than the guys who are in there anyways, if the guys do miss the open shots.
Is it true what Red used to say, you can't run without the ball?
Yes. And you get the ball by getting stops.
Is KG still an elite defender? Future all of famer Kevin Serephin doesn't think so!
No, he is still a very good defender, but not elite. Although he was never a great defender against big bangers, who can also hit 10 footers over the top of him. Although to be fair, not many people knew Seraphin was in that category.
KG is an elite team defender, who has regressed to being maybe a slightly above average individual defender, who needs certain matchups to shine. He used to be a guy who could make up for the deficiencies of the rest of the team, now he is a guy who needs the rest of the team clicking on all cylinders to be at his best.
Do we get xtra points for having no one over 6'9" on the court at the same time?
No, but we get negative points for getting bad NBA players on the floor.
