To answer the question - no... he will not opt in.  It would cost him significant money and the recent rumors are that he isn’t joining Durant anyways.  People expect Durant and kemba to go to the knicks and for kyrie to join the nets - maybe with someone like jimmy butler.

Woj suggested today that kyrie is a lock to leave Boston.  Likely as a direct result of this forum, twitter and reddit.
Do you want the “leader” of the team to be so mentally fragile and be affected by what 10 anonymous online posters think about him? If what Kyrie read online about him from a portion of the Celtics fan base was the deciding factor for him to leave he should seriously reconsider his choice of profession.

TP - said the same thing.

What’s funny is that it will be only ten times worse in New York lol
We'll always have this to remind Kyrie, considering he so constantly browses CelticsStrong:

Kyrie is definitely NOT opting into a 21M final year.  When he can sign a 4yr/140M+ contract.  KD's injury should re-enforce to Kyrie that would be a very idiotic thing to do.
I would assume OP meant sign a max here rather than actually opt in
Read the OP again.  He refers to KD opting in and Kyrie opting in and waiting.  Then the OP says he'd prefer Kyrie sign an extension or leave.

Dang, my bad. Kyrie would never do that.

I would like to take credit for Kyrie leaving, but I could not have done it with a lot of help from the good people here.

If Durant opts-in and Davis goes to LA, Kyrie does have a bit of a dilemma. If he goes to the Nets or Knicks without his buddies, the pressure is all on him.

Always makes me laugh when people are excited about the prospect of us potentially becoming the Boston Hawks

Small guards don't win championships.

There are only a handful of players in the NBA that do.

Durant, Leonard, Lebron, etc...

Danny needs to figure out how to get one of those players.

Anyone who pays Kyrie $140 million dollars is a fool.

Too bad the only one of those players who is even obtainable (let's just forget that it's incredibly unlikely) may have just ruptured his achilles.

I agree.

With what happened to KD, Kyrie will now want a long term contract.
Opting in for 21m or signing a 2-year deal, to keep his options open, is now a very big risk.
One injury and it would mean losing 100m or more.

John Wall is very lucky to have gotten that 200m contract.

KD's injury changes everything for the Celts and Kyrie.

If the Celts get Anthony Davis then there's no point in Kyrie going to the NY teams because KD will not be there.

Boston has the most money to offer and right now, with KD most likely out for a year, Boston has the biggest chance of winning it all if Kyrie stays and Anthony Davis becomes a Celtic.

All NBA point guard? lol

The first playoffs he was injured, and the second he laid down like a dog.

I can hardly wait for this guy to be gone.

Tough to think about, but if true, instead of Durant becoming the biggest free-agent prize of summer, he may not even play next season.
