Who says no?

Me.

Gordon Hayward NEEDS to stay in BOS and complete his (and Coach Stevens') unfinished business.

As the lone holdover from the supposed Kyrie - Al - Hayward Big Three I want him to stay.

Besides - GSW has PLENTY of scoring and playmaking coming back soon.

Gordon Hayward needs to stay in BOS and finish what he and Brad Stevens started back in Butler.

Finish it.

I like Draymond a lot and I think Gordon is going to be playing elsewhere as soon as this summer, so in some ways it could make sense.

Then again, I'm not sure if you can really carry both Smart and Draymond in your lineup unless the other three guys are really dominant offensive forces that warp the defense.

Anyway, I don't think the Warriors have any interest in breaking up the Curry / Klay / Dray troika until they've had another opportunity at making a title run with all three healthy.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Quote
Hayward is seventh in the league in FG% on shots inside 3' (minimum 50 attempts). The six players ahead of him are all centers. The next ten players after him are all centers or power forwards. Then Luka, followed by five more centers.

One thing that has returned to pre-injury results is that he's great in transition. The only playmaker with a good volume of transition opportunities who has finished better than him is Butler. All the other guys ahead of him are bigs finishing dunks or shooters hitting spot-ups.

He's scoring 1.37 PPP on transition finish attempts, and anyone who watches the C's knows that he's not shy about trying to score in transition so they're not all easy. LeBron and Giannis are at 1.12 and 1.13, respectively, as comparisons. He was great at this in Utah, too.

Don't get me wrong. Dray would certainly help us. But I'm still skeptical as to how he would fit here, if his personality would clash, and if the fact this year was a lost/tanking season led to him being so overweight, out of shape, sluggish, and slightly above average on the defensive end as opposed to being strikingly dominant. Basically, Dray sort of let himself go, but what did people expect? He's known as the quintessential elite role player. His spacing is still decent enough, if you leave him open, he may or may not hit the 3 like Smart does. But his numbers all across the board are slightly lower than last year.

Dray fixes a lot of issues, and helps us play small all more effectively. I just wonder about concerns of chemistry. Would Dray fit in seamlessly, or would he cause some rift in the locker room?

Regardless, I'm content with keeping 3 dominant wings at hand. It leaves plenty of roster room flexibility, lineup rotations, and as based on the evidence above, Hayward's pretty freakin' great at finishing inside/through contact, and in transition fast break. Something Dray's really good at.

In conclusion, Hayward is literally the opposite of Dray, whereas Dray is a 6'5/6'6 defensive specialist that can guard pretty much 1-5, Hayward is an skilled offensive play making specialist that gives our offensive firepower plenty of mismatches.

But the amount of disrespect to Dray is ridiculous... When healthy, and around the right fit/system, he's a top 30 player easy in my book.

EDIT: But there's just no point in messing with what's works now. I would love to have Dray on this team, I think he would not only elevate our team even more defensively, but his playmaking and court awareness can certainly help our shooters/scorers.

Honestly, it's not a bad idea. I do think Hayward is a slight bit more valuable than Green, so I might want some minor draft pick compensation coming back Boston's way, but Dray does offer more of what this team needs than what Gordy brings, who is mostly just a redundant piece on the Celtics.

Unfortunately, I don't see any way Dray and Jaylen Brown would get along. It's becoming rather apparent Brown is a bit of a turd and has a hard time dealing with other strong personalities. Dray is no peach either, so I'd be rather worried about the lockeroom chemistry.

But these are the types of trades we should be exploring. The fact that our 5 best players really can't share the court often enough (due to positional overlap) is an issue that will need to be confronted at some point.

Huh?? We're really establishing that just because of Kyrie?

Also, Draymond is overrated, and always has been. Great role player, that's about it. Never understood the love for him in trade rumors that get posted here.
Yeah, I am not getting the JB is being a turd thing. In the slamonline article about the photoshoot it looks like he gets along great with Smart, Kemba and Hayward and was on good terms with Tatum.

Where is him being a turd coming from?
It’s because he didn’t go to Duke ;D

I think anyone that cares about improving the Celtics says no.
I very much care about improving the Celtics and would reply with an emphatic yes to that hypothetical trade
horrible trade.  good thing you're just "Somebody" and not "anyone" which is who'd be against it  ;)
Ha good one! And I agree tbh, it's such a horrible trade for Golden State ;)

Hmmmm, that's a really interesting idea. I could see both pros and cons to it. That lineup of Kemba, Smart, Brown, Tatum, and Green would be something else. That's as solid of a two-way group as you can get.

I'm just not sure what interest GS would have in Gordy.

Yeah, what is the basis for Jaylen being a difficult personality other than his blowback on Irving - for which I applaud him. He seemed the only player on the team with the courage to speak up about that cancer of a teammate. No one else has been honest enough, to this day, to tell the truth about Irving.
