Tristan Thompson doesn't move the needle.  Unless there's someone on the market worth trading the Memphis pick for, we need to stand pat and let the young guys develop.

I’d rather see Williams progress than go after TT.

Who said anything about trading the Memphis pick.

Thompson has an expiring contract.
Unless the Cavs are planning on re-signing him, they have no use for him now that they're rebuilding.

I think Thompson would cost the Celts a late 1st round pick and players like Theis, Semi, and other fillers.

My wife ask me to respond for her with "F*** No"! She would have to stop watching the Celtics.

Not a fan of him off the court but I do like his energy on the court. I think he helps us out in a lot of areas, particularly rebounding and interior D. Pretty good role player for a team that has a bunch of strong scorers and perimeter defenders.

If it will cost us nothing significant, I’ll be open to it. DA needs to do his homework on chemistry impact tho

Yeah except he makes 18.5 million dollars so you have to trade Smart or Theis, Kanter, Langford and then still more of the bench just to make the numbers work.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

For the minimum if he is waived?  Sure.

I wouldn't give up a late 1st for Thompson.  I wouldn't give up anything for him or anyone else who doesn't move the needle.  Stand pat and play the young guys unless someone really good becomes available (i.e. someone who probably require the Memphis pick to get).

That's the only way I would do it. Who would you cut loose for Thompson?

Smart doesn't have to be included.

Theis, Kanter, Poirier, Semi, and maybe Langford will be enough.

The point of the trade is not to touch the core of the team.

Celts also end up keeping RWill.
