Have to imagine there aren't many Orioles fan shedding tears about the Angelos family selling the team.

And the Sox are likely to be "interested" in all of them but get none of them.

Theo Epstein is joining Fenway Sports Group as a minority owner / adviser.  I'm guessing this is lipstick on a pig.

So the AL East champs added Corbin Burnes to their rotation last night for not much in a return.

But I'm sure the Sox had interest in him  ::)

It's amazing how much Henry poisoned tremendous good will around here.

Yeah, lots of "interest," lol.

Sox gonna be a dumpster fire this year (again).

This is the first year where I'm probably not gonna follow them.

I'm not even joking. I have zero interest and I think Fenway will be pretty empty a lot of nights. Apparently they are selling tickets at Costco and desperately emailing people to buy season tickets or renew subscriptions, that's how desperate they are.

This team is gonna get absolutely spanked by the AL East. They were already a last place team but the Orioles added Kimbrel + Burnes, Jays are loaded, Rays will always be a competitive team, Yankees added Soto and likely will add Snell too.

It would be pretty cool if Fenway had awful attendance this year. Having a financial impact is only thing Henry cares about.

Their attendance in 2023 was down 10% from half a decade ago. TV ratings are half what they were in 2019.

They MUST be losing some cash from lack of fan interest.

And eventually that lethargy will follow them to the box office. In the long run this could devalue the whole franchise.

I get that maybe they think their young guys aren't ready to compete yet. But adding a couple quality pitchers keeps this team relevant. To me that's a smart investment.

It'll have good attendance when they play big cities like Toronto, LA, etc. but make no mistake, Fenway will probably be like 70%+ opposing fans. It literally happened last year too when the Dodgers and Mets came to town, a sea of blue heading into the stadium and in the stands. Embarassing optics

But they'll also be hit hard by TV ratings, revenue from jersey sales, etc. I mean not to sound like a jerk but outside of a few obvious names like Devers, Casas and Story, do people even recognize most of the guys on our roster now?  :P I think the casual fan would have a hard time after the first 5-6 main names

It looks like the Sox are starting to take a financial hit for being a last place team.  They're selling packages of 2 tickets + 2 franks + 2 sodas for $49.

Smells of desperation. Which is good. Hopefully people stay away from Fenway this season.
