Quote from: Kendrick Perkins
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are a top 3 duo in the league hands down. It is not even up for debate.

How do you guys feel about Perk's statement? With all due respect, imo Perk is a homer. Love the Js, but they aren't a top 3 duo in the league. Here are some duos I'd take over them. I'm assuming we are talking about the 2020/21 season. Obviously, some of the following guys don't have the upside of the Js.

(in pretty much random order)

- Bron and AD
- Kawhi and George
- Giannis and Middleton
- KD and Kyrie
- Luka and Porzingis (according to Carlisle, he's expected to come back ''some time in the next week, week and a half”)
- Probably Jokic and Murray. I'm super high on Jokic. I'm low on Murray though.
- Possibly Harden and Wood or Wall. Hate Harden's game, but he's an amazing scorer. Imo, Wood is a legit 3rd option on a title team.

I'm not including Steph and Klay, cause Klay is out for the season.

(1) LeBron & AD
(2) Kawhi & PG13

(3) Luka & Porzingis

Good argument between the next three in terms of order. KD and Kyrie, Jaylen and Tatum, Giannis and Middleton. I'd need to think about that some more. I'd place them in the same tier behind the top 3. So I'd have them 4th-6th place.

I do not see Jokic & friend or Harden & friend as competitive here.

Update: Hmm, I'm thinking Kyrie drops that duo to 6th. I really do not like his game. So Jaylen and Tatum are 4th or 5th best duo on my list.

I am interested to see what level Draymond can reach this season. Draymond and Steph where an incredible duo a few years ago. Early signs this season as well as last season are worrying for Draymond though.

I'll leave that duo out of the list for now but they could rocket up the list onto a par with Doncic and Porzingis for me. Just behind the top 2 duos. If Draymond can get back to All-Star level I mean.

I don't think it would be unfair to ding Luka/Porzingis in the rankings until Porzingis survives an entire season+playoffs.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

It's safe to say that the vast majority of Celtics fans hate Kyrie's game. :P That being said, he's one of the most clutch players around the league. Plus, healthy KD is easily a better player than Tatum/Brown. It seems like KD is 100% healthy.

I do not see Jokic & friend or Harden & friend as competitive here.
Imo, Jokic is a top 5 player in the NBA (worst case scenario, top 6). His BBIQ is out of this world!

I'd probably take the J's over these other duos (long term for sure, but this year is closer) but I do think it is worth mentioning them

Embiid/Simmons
Lillard/McCollum
Butler/Bam
Booker/Paul or Ayton
Williamson/Ingram
Siakam/Lowry
Sabonis/Brogdon or Oladipo

Lots of good duos in the league.  I'd probably have our guys 5th behind the two LA, Mil, and Dal but certainly think Den, Bkn, Hou, and Phi have pretty good arguments as being better.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Would you take them above the Js? Personally speaking, I wouldn't. This is why I didn't mention them in the OP.

Here are a few more:
- Beal and Westbrook (I may be the biggest hater of Westbrook's game in the entire universe :P)
- Steph and Draymond (imo, he's a ghost of his former self)
- KAT and DLo

I think they're trending in that direction, but not there yet.

I wouldn't put Kyrie/KD there just yet, they haven't proven where they stand in the pecking order yet. Someone above talked about Kyrie being clutch, yet his last opportunity to be clutch in a big time situation, he choked like a dog against MIL.

Jokic is just about a top 3 duo on his own. He's a monster who appears to be even better this year. Luka has been off, but the same with him.

I'd put the J's in the 5-7 range, which is exceptional, because most of the guys we'd put ahead of them are vets in their Late 20s and 30s.

That's fair.

He's one of the craftiest players around the league. He can create his own shot pretty much at will. The way I see it, he ain't a team player, but he's an elite closer. If the game is on the line and you need to score, gimme Kyrie over Tatum/Brown.

Simmons & Embiid is a strong one.
CP3 and D.Booker is pretty good.
Jimmy Butler and Bam pretty good also.

Embiid and Simmons are just behind my 2nd tier duos of Kyrie & Durant, Jaylen & Tatum, Giannis and Middleton.

Then I'd have those two duos after them in the 3rd tier.

Zion and Ingram are the closest of those other players to making this list. Around the same level as Jokic & Murray.

I’d say top 4 behind LBJ + AD, Kawhi + PG13 and Giannis + Middleton. Slightly ahead of Kyrie and KD.

Luka and KP could jump the Jays if KP can stay healthy, especially if he returns to his bubble form.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I would say they are at least top 5.  But it seems a little vague exactly how we are qualifying this?
Best two way duo?  Best scorers?  Best at 2 on 2?  I don't know how Perk was describing it.
