Chase Budinger got hurt, didn't he? Pietrus would be a very good backup wing for Minnesota. Give Minny a strong physical defensive backup wing. I'd like to see Pietrus go there.

I am surprised the LA Lakers haven't made a run at Pietrus.

Sad to hear. Looking like a career year for Budinger too.

LA can't offer Pietrus anything but a bag of peanuts, though, right?

True, but it might be the perfect place for him.  I don't think things look great for MWP's playing time.  Pietrus fits with D'Antoni, Howard, and Nash, and would be a solid complement to Kobe.  He'd chew away at the former Artest's minutes in a hurry.

Surely he'd get better offers after a season like he could have on the Lakers.

Pietrus seems like a hell of a stick up guy and hopefully might not sign with the enemy because of this. But you're right, he's a step up from half their roster.

Budinger is out about 2 months.  Not sure Pietrus goes there for that reason because he will be on the outside looking in come playoff time.  Lakers seems like a place where he would have a larger role all season long.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

At this point I wonder if Pietrus's knee has recovered. If he's healthy you'd think he'd have found a home.

Does Minnesota currently have room? They had a really weird cap situation with the offer sheet and all the other contracts they were throwing around.

Minnesota can only offer veteran's min., while LAL have part of their mini-MLE left (almost twice as much as the vet min.).

I would rather have Pietrus instead of Joseph. Doc isn't going to use Joseph this year anyways. Plus, he's not that youngest rookie around, so his ceiling is likely limited.
