Title: What teams do you respect most/least in the NFL?
Post by: Eja117 on April 30, 2017, 08:53:32 AM
Being the Patriots this is all within the context of not respecting any other teams of course.

Respect
Chiefs. I just like em.
Bills.  I think they may be my 2nd favorite team. They always play with all the disadvantages (nobody wants to play in Buffalo) and they never cry about it.
Cardinals.  They haven't really earned much respect but they haven't really lost it either.
Texans. I like their coach
Jags....they don't blame anyone but themselves
Browns.....As a Pats fan I totally understand a proud long suffering franchise
Packers.....so boring there's nothing to hate about them. Passionate fans
Bears.....is pity the same thing as respect?
Lions...this is a team I'd like to see do well
Saints

Do not respect
Colts
Cowboys
Ravens
Steelers....what on Earth happened to this team?
Redskins
Jets
49ers
Giants....although I admit I sorta forget why
Teams that were making money but held taxpayers hostage for new stadiums anyway and then left town
Teams that brought in Brett Favre in a horridly embarrassing attempt to win a game

Begrudging respect
Panthers
Seahawks
maybe the Broncos

teams I have no real emotions on
Dolphins
Eagles....pity?
Falcons...I'm sorta conflicted on them
Bucs.....The sorta he/said she/said thing on Winston doesn't really reflect on the entire team, but maybe it does.

Least respectable division......NFC East....just horrid

Here's are a couple of reminders...

Could be 7 championships right now. I know this is all subjective deprivation, but these were two very real Super Bowl opportunities that we peed away.

List looks pretty good, overall, although I would say I like Falcons and don't respect a couple of the crappy teams you have listed.

Yeah the Giants are sorta a tough one for me. I don't disrespect a team just because they beat mine. In fact I thought they totally earned both wins. There's just something I don't like about them.

The thing I don't like is how they beat the Pats and then act like they're some all time team even though they're only path to the playoffs is to buy a ticket, but I admit if I were them I'd do the exact same thing.  I'd be like "Who's Tom Brady?"

Dolphins was  my team million years ago.

But they ve been bad for so long , I'm almost numb to them doing anything anymore Win or loose.

I think short of a complete owner franchise overhaul I could care less.

Don 't watch much anymore .  It's changed too much .

I like college football way better spend my emotions on my almamater

Respect:
- Patriots -- they've stayed on top for a very long time through very shrewd player management.
- Redskins -- well, I'm a Skins fan so I have to I suppose.

Disrespect
- Cowboys, Giants, Eagles - everyone else in the NFC East besides the Skins obviously sucks
- Redskins - (yes it's possible to respect and not respect) Dan Snyder screwed my franchise for years.  jerk doesn't belong anywhere near a scenario requiring a football decision.

Indifferent
- Everyone else

LOL!

Nope...Celtics and Bruins.  Don't watch baseball.

I don't even have any strong feelings on the Patriots, as a franchise.  Their success doesn't bother me, my favorite team has won plenty in my lifetime.

But Patriots fans really annoy the crap out of me, and most all of my closest friends are Patriots fans (some of them are annoying too).  15 years ago things were different, then the team started winning and the collective fan base started acting like arrogant jerks.  Not all of their fans are that way, but when you live in NE and see it everyday, it's just comical.  Going to be real interesting to see how they act when Brady/Belicheck leave and the winning stops.

Maybe I'd feel different if I lived somewhere else and didn't see it all the time, but I love living in NH.  Football isn't going to change that.

Respect:
Patriots (my team)
Saints (DefendTheWall)
Bucs (Farm team)
Texans? (former players and coaches playing there)
Lions
Chargers? (since I do live in LA and both LA teams suck but I lean with this LA team more than the other being a fellow AFC team)

HATE:
Broncos (screw Von Miller, Mile HGH, Manning, John Elway etc etc)
Colts (crybabies never win)
Ravens (another set of crybaby that comes from their coach)
Steelers (lol excuse-pullers from their butts)

Least respect/dislike:
every NFC East team minus Redskins
Seahawks
Rams
Raiders
every AFC East team minus Patriots

I am indifferent with everyone else. Either they're irrelevant to the Patriots' success or they're just...irrelevant in general lol.

Respect

Patriots: Home team that suffered forever and now are a 15 year dynasty.
Steelers: Hate them but respect them. Tremendous consistency of winning and being tough as nails.
Broncos: See Steelers
Dolphins: Not always a good team but always play the Pats tough as nails. Gotta respect that.

Disrespect:

Ravens: They chirp and was a team that didn't mind having a murderer as the face of the franchise for over a decade
Colts: Hated the way they decided to change the rules about handchecking of DBs and started the deflate gate saga. All because they are sore losers. Hate sore losers.
Cowboys: Whether great or bad they always got national attention ad nauseum. If they are bad they shouldn't be getting such attention but did simoly because they are the Cowboys. Can't stand that.

Don't Care:

Everyone else

The Steelers....love Pittsburg as a city. Thoroughly respect the 70s and Bill Cowher eras.

Then they talked smack about my QB while they're own is clearly a rapist and then their coach started crying about headsets.....and all those years of glory and built up respect went down the drain. Now they're just a trash franchise.

Least= Jets/Jags
Everyone else seems to have their ups and downs as far as make up and leadership.

I don't love franchises that move and abandon fan bases (Rams and Raiders are serial offenders), and I don't like franchises that build teams full of criminals (like the Bengals).

I don't like the Pats, Brady or Belichek, but it's hard not to respect them (except when they're cheating, haha).

Lighten up. The Pats got caught pushing the envelope twice now, and there are plenty of other sources who say it wasn't a two time thing. Accept the good (five rings, HOF coach and QB) while acknowledging the bad (the team hasn't always strictly followed the rule book).

What the Pats did during Spygate, everyone was doing at the time. Several coaches have admitted this. Science has shown, pretty emphatically that weather was the reason for underinflated balls. Heck, the Colts had at least one, and maybe more underinflated balls had the officials the time to measure every ball.

Do the Pats like to find loopholes in the rules to take advantage of? Sure. But then again, when the league changes hand checking rules for defensive backs because the Colts and Manning didn't like the way the Pats did things and then suspend the biggest star in the league over something that science disproved, I can understand the Pats feeling the league is out to squelch their success.

deflategate and spygate were pretty pathetic in terms of the actual things the team got caught doing.

Losing respect for the patriots over deflategate or spygate is pretty ridiculous. Did you lose respect for the giants when they used a walkie talkie during a game? what about when the panthers heated up footballs on the sideline during a cold game? how about when the Falcons pumped in fake crowd noise, or when the Jets tampered with Darelle Revis? Did you lose respect for the Packers when Rodgers said he used to try to get balls over-inflated? Did you lose respect for the Jets when they literally got caught doing the exact same thing as the patriots?

I mean, if all those things caused you to lose respect for those teams, then yeah sure. If they didnt, then I think it is more likely that you really hate the patriots and their "cheating" is the only real excuse you can find for hating them.

I mean you see the same stuff with Lebron. People make up plenty of reasons why they hate Lebron.

People used to make up plenty excuses for why they hated the Yankees.

It happens all the time. If you think the Pats do a lot of cheating that they just havent gotten caught for, then fine, but if you losing a non-trivial amount of respect for them for deflategate and spygate seems to be reaching a decent amount.

I was born a Patriots fan. They top my respect list, but other than them:

Steelers (because they're from Pittsburgh), Ravens (because they're from Baltimore).
Seahawks (because my brother lives in Seattle and his wife has been a long time Seahawks fan, since well before they were famous).

Teams I dislike: Giants, Broncos, Cowboys, Dolphins.

Teams I hate: Jets.

most: NE, NYG, Pitt, Den, Seattle, GB, and Baltimore.

least: NYJ, Miami, Cincy, Detroit, Philly, KC (never can win the big game), the Chargers, Redskins, and of course, CLE.

I think the similar types of people that hate on the Patriots also can't stand Lebron. Haters are gonna hate!

teams I like and ones I respect are very different.

Respect: Seahawks, Ravens

Harbaugh 9ers and Coughlin Giants were on this list. As were the Cowher steelers, any Peyton Manning team, and Rex Ryan led Jets (I know I know half the time we blew him out, but every once in a while he had the answers most coaches never have). He brought a Mark Sanchez QBd team to the AFC championship.

least Respect: Bengals, 49ers, Colts

They are OK with being solid and not competing for a championship and I dont like that at all. Big egos resulted in Harbaugh firing. Really dumb and turned me off to that ownership group. Colts ownership and then the AFC finalist banner and the amount of real estate New England owns in their heads has culminated in me not taking them seriously.

Jim Harbaugh being a huge Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. about our formations made me lose some respect for him, but hes one of the few coaches in this league that Id say gives his team an advantage on a regular basis so I still have respect for the Ravens. Although that respect has dipped a decent amount with Steve Smith's retirement.

They definitely push the envelope. But Pats fans don't have to respect the rest of the league because when the Pats get quasi-legitimately questioned for pushing the envelope our QB and team gets punished more than if Brady were a rapist. It's a $20,000 equipment infraction. It's not a ticket to Brady's cell phone.  The league is a fraud and the Pats dominate it with their right hand tied behind their back. That's why New England doesn't have to respect the rest of the league. Other teams can't even beat them while they're taking away our draft picks against their own rules. Joke league and ESPN is a joke network. So yeah. We push the envelope. Then we get absurd punishments that don't even resemble fitting the crime and then they still can't beat the Pats.

And this isn't even to mention that as soon as the Pats legitimately find a play or a system that works they take it away. And then they still can't beat the Patriots. If you breathe on a WR now you get a flag. That was to help Peyton Manning. Can't jump over the line to block kicks now. The Ravens cried about our formations. At some point they have to stop embarrassing themselves.
