"See you in hell, Jedi"?

Seriously?  Those in a galaxy far, far away believe in hell?

Regardless, that finale was straight-up terrible.  Maybe the show *was* as bad as the review bombs.

Finally watched the finale last night.  Just the icing on the cake of easily the worst Star Wars show of the Disney era.

It's the writing.  It's horrific.   When they first announced this show, I was excited to see an era of the Republic and the Jedi that we had never seen on screen before.  These writers managed to create lifeless characters that didn't reasonate and managed to make the Jedi look both meager and incompetent.  The fan service of Plagueis and Yoda did zero for me.

They won't but I really hope Disney takes a step back and evaluates what they're doing with Star Wars.

Thank god we have Andor season 2 waiting in the wings this winter.

There?s a lot of legit criticism for this show in my opinion. I think it?s pretty awful. But Han Solo said ? I?ll see you in hell.? I think there?s plenty to criticize without nitpicking.

It was just such an out of place line.

At least George Lucas had great story and good actors to deliver some of his cringey dialogue, at least in the OT.

Nobody has destroyed the character of Luke Skywalker than John Favreau in my opinion. He?s now beat out Rian Johnson. Like offering Grogu to choose between training and attatchments is like he got amnesia and forgot his compassion/ attatchment to his dad DESPITE his wise mentors telling him he has to kill his father, is what saved him. I was disgusted as a Star Wars nerd. First The last Jedi and the third movie that was just laughable and Favreau doubled down on it. Completely inconsistent and makes no narrative sense after the events of RoTJ.
This is why it all needs to be retconned post RoTJ. No Grogu. No Mando. Ditch everything.
For god?s sake make a Leia a Jedi and ditch the politics. Leave the politics to Mon Mothma.

How is Luke allowing Grogu to choose his path inconsistent with Luke's character development?

I mean, I would have simply started with adapting Heir to the Empire and worked within that universe.  But, overall the Mandalorian has been one of the best things Disney has done with the property.

It was my take that he was asking him to give up his attatchments. He shoukd ( in my opinion ) made it clear that was NOT a necessity. In fact it would be unnatural.
But I think the push for this could also have been from higher ups because that will be Rey?s job . To reinvent the Jedi and welcome attatchment. You don?t give up people you love to train . Lucas showed in the OT how Luke went against the advice of yoda and obi wan but for himself and his father and you?d think not abandoned his friendships but put that decision on Grogu.
At least that was my take.

I wasn?t as big a fan of the Msndalorian as others either. I thought it had some  really bad episodes like ? The Gunslinger ? and the one where he helps train the villagers. There were a couple others . Amy Sedaris just felt like out of Sesame Street to me.  S3 was a whole other story but that is pretty universally panned, I know.
I thought Andor was excellent. To me that?s the way to go with that level of acting and story and just add more action , a little humor and adventure and they?d have a big hit.
Adapting Heir to the Empire is such a layup . I totally agree.
Disney honestly dislikes their fans. OT fans in their 40?s to 70?s woukd go to the theatre MULTIPLE times to see those films and you can add the other age groups in . It would beat out the Marvel stuff and Titanic  or whatever is sitting on top.

I?m shocked that anyone remotely discerning still watches Disney Star Wars spin offs. They?ve been bad consistently for awhile now.

The Star Wars disney plus shows have been really hit and miss.  I consider myself to be a full on star wars geek.  I even loved the prequels.
I DIDN"T love the sequels, but I am generally a very positive star wars fan.

The Mandalorian and Andor were at least solid A-/ B+ for me.   The Mandalorian I think was good somewhat because I didn't expect it to be that good.  I was hoping Andor would be even better than it was, but it was really slow at times.   But I like that era, and I loved Rogue One as well.

Ahsoka and Obiwan were C+ for me.  Somewhat disappointed in both.  There was so much hype for the Obiwan series though, some of that might have been me having too high expectations.

The Acolyte though (solid D), omg, a few of those episodes the writing and just the story and premise are so horrible.   The final episode was some of the worst writing I have ever seen in a star wars project.  The writing for the two twins was horrible.  They had such an opportunity to redefine the Jedi in that time period, and they failed so badly.  The writing was bad, the acting performances in general were subpar as well imho.

You forgot Book of Boba Fett.  I think that one was the biggest let down.

Yeah that one probably is a little above the Acolyte, but not much.   The best parts of that one were with the Mandalorian / Luke and Grogu haha.
def a disappointment.   after all these years waiting for some real Boba Fett action, eh...bleh.

Tony Gilroy did Andor and Jon Favreau did Mandalorian.  Those are both excellent award winning writers/directors/showrunners.  They know what they are doing.

Acolyte's showrunner is Leslye Headland who is best known for the movie The Bachorlette.

Dave Filoni did Ahoska and while he worked on a lot of shows that was basically the first live action show that was his.

Obi-Wan was so bad they had to rewrite it.  And they hired Joby Harold to do the rewriting.  Harold has been a writer on a whole bunch of action movies, but none of them you think man that writing is great i.e. the Transformer series or most recently Atlas on Netflix.

Now Favreau was also behind Book of Boba Fett so it isn't fool proof, but generally when you hire award winning showrunners that know what they are doing, you are going to get a good product and when you don't you could end up with a real mess

I was a huge Star Wars fan growing up but these days it's so hard to keep up with all the content, especially TV shows and streaming...I did all the movies, including Rogue One and Solo and the cartoon Clone Wars, saw the first two seasons of the Mandalorian then I wasn't able to keep up. Haven't seen the Book of Boba Fett, Obi Wan, Ahsoka, or the Acolyte yet  :(
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

The cartoons have generally been awesome.  "Clone Wars" was incredible.  The final season was some amazing story telling.  I thought "Bad Batch" was well done also.  Really got into that. '

With the live stuff, It's Andor then Mandalorian followed by a decent dropoff.
