There's been a lot of pitchers over the past 2 seasons who have needed TJS or have had some major elbow/arm injuries. Shane Bieber and Eury Perez need TJS determined this week. Gerrit Cole out for some time with elbow issues. Alcantara, Ray and others have had TJS over the past year. And now it looks like Spencer Strider could need TJS as well. Crazy. I wonder if it has to do with the pitch clock as well.

I just read an article in which someone proposes that it's not the pitch clock but the increased emphasis on velocity that we've seen over the last 15 years, during which time the average fastball speed has increased by more than 2 mph, putting a lot more strain on pitchers' arms.

Yeah the velocity is a fair point. It does seem like especially for relievers there's now an emphasis on "power pitchers" (basically you need a 98+ MPH fastball at minimum even to go along with some excellent secondary pitches).

Theory I saw was overpitching and mechanics.  Essentially, this generation of ballplayer has come up playing year round and the focus of basic mechanics has gotten all jacked up.

Trevor Story out for the season. Again.

A joke of a contract for a team going nowhere.

I will say the Sox did a really good job with the Wakefield tribute yesterday.

That might end up being the highlight of the season.  :P

Yeah it was beautiful. Loved the gesture of having Brianna throw the first pitch to Varitek. It really is sad that both kids lost their parents in pretty quick succession  :(

Well, when you suck for years and keep getting top 5 picks, your chances of eventually rebuilding with studs gets better.

I agree with both of these. Was one game that would have been really nice to win.

Yeah, they were a doormat for a long time. Let's hope that's not what happens to Boston.
