Game Notes
The Celtics continue their 2 game road trip with a stop in New York to take on the Knicks. The Celtics are playing in the second of back to back games, having loss to Toronto on Friday night, 113-101. The Knicks are also playing in the second game of a back to back, losing last night to the Nets in a battle of New York, 107-105

The Celtics struggled last night late in the game and had an overall poor defensive showing allowing the Raptors to shoot 46.7% from the floor and 37.1% from the three point line. They failed to contain Kawhi Leonard in the 2nd half as he poured in 24 points after halftime and had 31points and 10 rebounds for the game. The Celtics also had no answer for veteran Serge Ibaka as he put up 21points on 10 of 14 shooting. The Celtics defense will need to tighten up if they are to pull out a win in New York.

The Knicks are also coming off a loss and still trying to cope with the absence of their young star, Kristaps Porzingas. The Knicks are led by guard Tim Hardaway, Jr. who has scored 60 total points in the Knicks first two games. Also, starting off well for New York is Enes Kanter, who always seems to be a thorn in the Celtics side. Kanter is averaging 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game so far in this short season. The Celtics also should pay close attention to the Knicks very impressive rookie, Kevin Knox, who excelled at Summer League and preseason and is averaging 13.5 points per game this far.

For the Celtics to win this game they are going to have to continue to work in Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward who both looked much better last night than the did in the season opener. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown look to have the advantage in their match ups and should look to get the ball to their youngsters. But perhaps most importantly, the Celtics will need to use their exceptional length defensively to contain this young Knicks team. Also key will be keeping Kanter off the offensive boards getting easy put backs. Kanter has killed the Celtics in the past with this facet of his game.

Gordon Hayward looks to be a scratch and Aron Baynes should be inserted into the starting lineup
