I love you guys, crying a river about not geting ED DAVIS... we land Evan Turner and suddenly it's the worst move possible.

Absurd is the word I'm looking for.

They've cried over each and every move since they didn't get Davis, Melo, LeBron, etc.

*Danny started the offseason with two picks (6 & 17) and a $10m TPE.

*Danny so far has picked well (Smart & Young), got a $4.5m ish (TPE), Zeller, Turner and a 1st.

I mean, that's darn good work right there.  Yet all we get is sob after sob.

Post of the summer right here.

Yep and he also got a good shooter in Marcus Thornton too. I think the Celtics might be poised to make another move this offseason, probably in the form of a trade.

I've been a bit harsh myself on the moves, or lack thereof this season, but looking back, it's been methodically well done.
Best part is that he hasn't given up any key assets to get to this point.

Part of me, the idyllic boy who thinks that lottery tickets can be winners and a person who walks into a casino can walk out with a bajillion dollars, thinks he can put it together.

The adult part of me, the one who pays taxes and knows that people are terrible thinks that this move will be very disappointing in a year.

Give Danny credit. He has picked up a lot of average and/or under performing players and given up nothing. That part is good. As far as this team goes this year, however, it has a stench that I don't like. I guess the old (get of my lawn) guy is coming out here, but I never want guys like Evan Turner or Marcus Thornton on my team. Same goes for clowns like Jordan Crawford. Hopefully these guys over perform the first half of the season and Danny can package them out of here....

Here's a larger story on Turner from Bulpett, with quotes from his agent:

http://bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/celtics_insider/2014/07/celtics_complete_deal_for_free_agent_evan_turner
So it remains unclear whether it's a one-year or a multi-year deal. Seems like one-year though.

What I'm wondering is are the numbers being "hidden" for now, because another move is on the way and cap space is vital? If it goes a day or two without ANY numbers, something is fishy.

It really seems like there's something else in the works.  But even as a stand alone move I like it.  We're buying low on a scorer who's going to be motivated.  And this team needs a scorer.

I agree something has to be in the works. Cant wait to see what the next move of Danny Collecting Guards will be

I believe Falk in that a bunch of teams were interested. He was a bad fit in Indy. But let's also remember that Philadelphia traded him and Hawes away because those two dudes were helping the team win too many games. Then they suddenly dropped from a .300 team to a Laughing stock doormat.

Sometimes a top 5 overall pick just needs a change of scenery. Then again sometimes a top 5 pick is Hasheem Thabeet.  :)

Essentially, yes.  Currently the Celtics have list over $2 million they can offer Turner with the MLE (assuming it is not the taxpayer MLE, which it hasn't been reported as) before running into the hard cap.  But they also have $7 million or so in non-guaranteed contracts they can ditch, and certainly would ditch since Turner puts them at 15 players.  Probably they're giving Danny a couple days to
make a move with Bogans' contract before signing, as they'll likely need to release Bogans to make the signing work.  Or it could be that Green is about to be moved, and Falk, who is both Green and Turner's agent, knows what's coming.  While we don't know the specifics, if his deal is longer than 2 years (even if the extra years are options), the Celtics would have to release someone before paying him more than about $2 million.  Or, if it's two years or less, they couldn't pay him more than roughly $3.3 million per year form 2 years, again without releasing someone.

Turner can play. He isn't a star, but he will contribute. It won't make our team good, but he is an upgrade as part of the rotation.

I think it has been mentioned before, but I think Turner was brought in so we can trade Green. I still see Green + Picks for Monroe S&T as a really good move for both teams. Det get to move Smith to PF where he is actually a fairly efficient player, we get a Center who can score, rebound and is young enough to build around.
