Yeah, the "starting" thing doesn't really matter to me. But Marcus seems to thrive working out of the pick and roll when the big is super aggressive. Horford had a really nice game where he was forcing the issue.. but I want to see more pick and roll/pop action with Smart as the ball handler and Tatum/Brown/Hayward as the roll/pop man.

Very interesting Kyrie was just interviewed and he said having Smart in the starting lineup took a lot of pressure off him defensively with being able to direct the defense and offensively as he was able to play off the ball more and helping him mange his energy better. Said “Marcus and I play pretty well together 1 and 2 spot he brings my numbers up and I’m very appreciative of that”

Smart is worth every penny, huh.

This is incorrect. Our starting five was:

Irving
Smart
Tatum
Morris
Horford

On Brad’s postgame conference he said “we won’t be settled on a starting lineup till...forever”

I guess it’s going to remain a horses for courses thing based on matchups.

So i'm guessing the problem may be Jaylen Brown.

His defense is obviously a plus, but I actually like his playmaking equally as much. It's a huge asset to have another player out there who can create for others; this is especially true given how much we've been struggling to distinguish roles in the offense. Big fan of the move, but a small sample size to feel conclusive about.

As a 2nd or 3rd passer in the play - yes, he has an eye to nicely pass the ball. But as a primary ball-handler (PG) - God no!

C'mon guys! The shots obviously started to fall from everyone, Tatum, Rozier, Smart, Al, Kyrie. We need to score those open 3s. By doing only that (open ones) we raise our chances for a win by 30-40% every night. It's a fact.
And we need Hayward! He's not a part of this team at the moment. We're missing our 2nd best ball-handler. A huge reason for our struggling so far.

After watching the game last night Smart was a better compliment to Kyrie than Brown.  He passes much better and plays great defense.  This allows Kyrie more freedom.  Smart doesn’t need to score either to make his presence felt. We have enough scorers out there, we need a defensive first unselfish player to go with the scorers.  Smart fits that mode.  Plus IMO he adds toughness to the team.  I would keep smart in there and see if its a one game thing or if he is the best fit on the first unit.

I had a major concern about XXX's return and the stunted growth of Brown, Rozier, and Tatum.  That appears to have some to fruition, which really sucks, though I agree it's in the teams best interest to run with the vets given our recent struggles.  Smart and Mook are especially well-suited for the job.
