I didn't buy a single album in 2009 so I can't comment on that but as far as movies these were the best that I saw this year.

The free Metro Paper that they hand out on the T had the Phoenix CD, "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix." I own the CD and thought it was one of the best I had heard in a long time and was quite happy to hear that it got some respect.
