The Heat are doing a good job defensively with the zone but I also wonder... is Embiid not 100%? Idk he looks very sluggish out there and definitely isn't moving fast. Like in a series against Boston I think the strategy could be to just run up and down the court and in transition.

ESPN said before the game that Embiid said he was only about 70 percent

I missed that. In that case the Sixers are screwed, the Bulls frontcourt is pretty good and will also challenge the Sixers. And beyond that, C's have Horford/Porzingis/Tillman with tall wings as well.

I did not realize Embiid is in his 10th year already. That includes the first two he missed with injury. So 8 years playing. Yet to get past the 2nd round. Just turned 30 years old recently.

Time is ticking ...

I don't think he's staying with the Sixers. Funny enough I think Miami is a team that could decide to trade for him, with other candidates being New York, Golden State and New Orleans.

Interesting that Duncan Robinson is not in the rotation tonight. He was cleared to play

Why is no one giving the heat credit? Yeah the 76ers do look like hot garbage but the heat also clearly flipped a playoff switch and are playing like they were at points last postseason. I want nothing to do with them.

Because they are playing like trash too. Instead of holding them up on a pedestal, you can take a step back and realize they're shooting 43% from the field and 30% from 3 in that first half.

Whatever you say. There intensity clearly got turned up and there zone defense is causing fits (like it has every time we have faced them in the playoffs)

Yeah, they’re trash though

Sure would be nice if you looked at the C's - the objectively much better team - with these kinds of rose-colored glasses like you how view the Heat.

The average High school point guard is much better at attacking a zone than maxey

Enjoyed that one. Sixers fan on SBNation.

Yeah, Embiid clearly doesn't look healthy. Feels like he may have hurt himself in that last game he played that he pushed through after going to the locker room.

If he is hobbled then my entire outlook is changed.

GO HEAT! Give us Philly (or the Bulls/Hawks)

This Sixers team just looks so slow out there. Like slow-motion. Meanwhile the Heat players look like Usain Bolt with these hustle plays, transition, etc.

Hopefully Joe and the coaching staff are watching this game and drilling offense against zone defenses every day in practice. No reason to not be prepared for the zone this year, especially with the additions of KP and Jrue.

Butler 3/11.....but 6/7 from the line. Pathetic how the refs hold him up.
Still don't believe in Joe.

Reminding me of Wilt when he came back in the early 70s for the Lakers after he injured his knee. Just couldn't move. At least Wilt had the common sense to stay close to the basket on both ends and only bothered coming up if there was no transition opportunity.

Embiid playing high post too much on offense and settling for long jump shots. Bailing out the defense. Giving up on the game. Doing as well as you could hope on defense staying low and protecting the paint. But the offense is dumb low effort basketball from Embiid.
