What would be the reactions here to such a trade today?
-
Heresy. Get out the pitchforks.
-
To be fair to the center he has just averaged 17 pts, 11 reb, 1.6 blk, 0.8 stl, so he's kind of a stud. But that 1st overall pick is gold, right? That top pick will be a generational talent, no?

Embiid is "disgruntled"?

He's questionable, for sure.

13th pick?
-
I would buy a plane ticket and travel 13 hours just to say some moderately nasty words to Danny Ainge.
"You heck of a man, you! I donīt approve!"
-
13th pick?
Yep.

When you are the greatest GM of all time, you get a pass.
Bill Belichick can do whatever the **** he wants and we assume he is right, because he is the Red Auerbach of his time.
Red Auerbach can do whatever the Edited. Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. he wants because hes Red Edited. Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing Auerbach.
Ainge is great, but hes not quite earned that level of blind faith.

Depends on who the #1 pick is.
If it was during the Bennett or Bargnani drafts -- drafts where there is no clear #1 I mean + where the guy you have at the top of your board can be gotten later instead of #1 -- I would be quite interested in trading down.
In drafts where there is a clear #1 = say Kyrie or Ben Simmons, I would be very unhappy.

1980. Point taken.

It depends how good the center is. If he was Robert Parish good... then of course.
It also depends on how good the consensus #1 pick was.
Many variables here.

Oh got it.
TP btw

And what if McHale had been taken 1st or 2nd?

Joe Barry Carroll was the latter kind of prospect. So was Darrell Griffith. And we traded down past both of them. Carroll averaged 19 and 9 his rookie year, Griffith won ROY. There would've been a lot of wailing and whining about that, if Parish hadn't had a great year and if we didn't win the title. A lot of fans from today would've despised trading down for McHale, I think.

#1 + Memphis 2019 + Crowder for #4 + Booker
#1 + Crowder for Myles Turner + Paul George (assuming he signs an extension)
#1 + Bradley for #3 + Saric + Lakers 2018 + Sacramento 2019 --> #3 for #5 + #10
#1 + Crowder for #8 + Porzingis
Feel free to replace Crowder/Bradley with IT/Smart or whomever you want.
Just trying to put ideas out there for discussion. :)

Interesting ideas, but which do you think is the closest to #1 + #13 for #3 + Parish?

I guess the one with the Suns since we get a high lotto pick (#4 instead of #3) and a very promising young player (Booker instead of Parish).
Parish --> Booker
#3 --> #4
#13 --> Memphis 2019 + Crowder
Or maybe the one with the Knicks (since Porzingis can play the 5 as well).
Porzingis (2016-17 season)
MIN 32.8
PTS 18.1
(FGM-A 6.7-14.9)
REB 7.2
AST 1.5
BLK 2.0
STL 0.7
Parish (1979-80 season)
MIN 29.4
PTS 17
(FGM-A 7.1-14.0)
REB 10.9
AST 1.7
BLK 1.6
STL 0.8
