I don’t know if this is good or bad for the pick. Gasol has no impact regardless.

Good for Charlotte, going for it while they still have Kemba playing at a high level. I wonder who they are planning to send back for him?

Good, they're going full tank to keep the pick and we'd rather it roll over and potentially be higher.

It also provides asset diversity, we can offer 2 (or 3) picks this draft and 2 in future drafts.

Are we sure they are tanking?

If they trade Gasol to the Hornets, it’ll be a good induction. Charlotte has a lot of bad salary to get rid of, which would mean they’d deal away that bad salary and attach draft picks to them. Then Memphis would be sitting out FA.

They could be worse this year and better the next.

For this year only, they definitely will be if Jaren Jackson has to play heavy minutes without depth. Defenses will be able to focus on JJJ and not the Conley Gasol PnR. He picks up early fouls so often it's like he's Daniel Theis.

They are looking at trading their three best players. So yes, I think its fair to say they are tanking for this year certainly.

Will they continue to tank after that like the 76ers? I doubt it. But Jaren Jackson and whatever young pieces they add won't be a playoff team in the west quickly so we're likely to get a shot a decent lottery pick.

Not if they trade Conley.

Memphis has won 21 games with Gasol. He has little trade value at his age. It’s best to get something out of him while you can. The last thing we should want is somebody coming in there with something to prove. It would be in Memphis best interest to convey that pick this year. I hope they truly want to tank.

Both Bridges and Monk = too much for Gasol IMO, but it's MJ so...

MJ giving up Bridges and Monk to just make the playoffs is a total MJ move. Smh
