There'll always be folks who get attached to the current version of the team and lash out against trades. Jae Crowder, IT, Al Jefferson, last year's No. 1 pick (i.e. Fultz), even the Pierce/KG trade. There's always sentimentality, belief in the underdog, love for the scrappy... that's a defining characteristic of Boston sports. But you know what? For all the titles this city has won, how many came from the scrappy underdog? A couple, to be sure, but Bird was no underdog, nor was Brady, Ortiz, Russell, etc. You need the best of the best - the all-timers - to win. I love Tatum... LOVE his game. Would LOVE to see him turn into the next Kobe/Pierce/etc. in Boston. I would rather have a top-5 player in his prime because that's the sure thing, and despite Tatum's promise it's not a sure thing until it's here. As for the uncertainty of leaving in free agency, I trust that Danny won't make that trade if he doesn't have some kind of assurance, so that's moot. All the LA talk is fake news, f'real. Only thing that makes it difficult to trade Tatum for AD is if these guys come out of the East and take a couple games in the Finals. In which case.... I'll cross that bridge when we get to it
