Anyone ever get into a conversation about the Celtics or Marcus smart with fans of other teams and they go into a rant about Marcus smart being a flopper? I haven't seen the man consistently flop in years. He takes charges

I think it's got to do with the national media brandishing him as one. ESPN "experts" love to call him a flopper, even though he's definitely toned it down.

Something about first impressions I suppose

It bugs me because Lowry takes way more charges and has a sterling reputation. I get that Smart flopped early in his career but its since become a tired narrative propagated by Anti Boston fans.

Eventually the narrative will change but its still easy upvotes in the meantime.

Well he was more of a floppier in college but the label def stuck to him. This 2nd one is one of my all time favs of his.  Double flop versus Deandre Kane Iowa State

He is still a blatant flopper folks, I know he is our guy but a lot of guys who draw charges flop.   Smart is a really strong dude and would not go down as much as he does without the effort to draw charges.   Baynes flops too.

Because he is a flopper?

Maybe not Wade/Manu/Harden-level flopper, but he certainly has earned his reputation.

He doesn't do it as much anymore though

Flopping became part of the game.
Ginobili was one of the biggest floppers and no one will argue he was a great player.
Also all shooters learned they must fall after the shot with the slightest touch of a finger to get a foul.

It is bad if you flop when there is zero contact. not as bad if you are helping the ref see there was contact- Marcus is the 2nd one.

He’s definitely a flopper. It’s a skill he has honed.

That was another classic.

Kind off topic Q, is there an easy way to embed video like that?

He totally is, but every playoff hopeful needs a skilled flopper.
