Then there's always the sacrificial lambs who made this possible:

Delonte, Wally, Big Al, Gomes, Bassy and our main man Gerald Green

  • I'm Green for Life!!!
All the former Celtics players who never have had a shot at a ring. Len Bias and Reggie Lewis are obviously at the top of that list because of their unfortunate and untimely deaths.
For the Big 3 and PJ Brown and House and every current player on the C's who doesn't have a ring... and of course for Posey and Cassell so they can add to their jewelry cases.
Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers. And every one else who contributes in any way to the Celtics franchise.
For all the legends and coaches who helped build this team into a dynasty. And gave Boston the first 16 banners and so many wonderful years of basketball.
For Red... if only he could be here to have one last victory cigar. Hopefully he has a big cigar lit for every game up in heaven.
And finally for all of us. The fans who have been through all the good times and bad times. Those who have poured their hearts into this team for years, only asking to be entertained and for Ws. Hell the Celtics are like a flame that never dies. We will always carry them in out hearts. And if this is the only championship they win in my lifetime I want to be able to tell my kids and grandkids that I saw that banner get raised to the rafters.
So C's win it for everyone... BEAT LA!!!!
Once a Celtics fan, always a Celtics fan. Celtics4Life!

Kenny Anderson  - always loved this guy, he was just solid, that 17 foot lefty jumpshot and the abe lincoln beard when he was bald...nothin better
Erick Strickland - this guy was gutsy and always give it all he had even though it was just for one year
JR Bremer - remember this guy, undrafted from st. bonnie, nice rookie year or us.
Dahntay Jones and Troy Bell for getting us Kendrick Perkins!!

Pierce, Doc, and Ainge.  All 3 took an unfair amount of criticism (especially on this board) and laid their reputations and careers on the line by putting all their eggs in one basket and trying to see this team become a title winner.

I notice many of the old threads are missing, but think back to the hyperboles that people were saying not even 12 months ago.  There was honestly a serious discussion and motion on this board to rebuild this team around Luol Deng because Pierce was what was keeping the team from winning with his selfish ways. Ridiculous!

Rick Pitino and Paul Gaston.  Because without them, we don't have Wyc and Danny right now.

Themselves ... especially Pierce and Garnett, and how they've carried their respective teams on their backs for over a decade. The Celtics need to win this for the Celtics ... and everyone connected with them will be the beneficiaries.
