The Stepien has a big board out. It has Morant as the 8th best prospect and Bol as the 20th. Both seem low.

3b. Ja Morant (trending up). Starter, spot all star. The reason why I don’t have him in tier 2 is because I am not buying his NBA impact. He puts up huge numbers, with huge usage, but what separates him from Garland is Garland’s ability to shoot. If you look at the top point guards in the league, all of them have the ability to pull up off the bounce and on a dime. Morant shoots FTs well, but his shooting form does not lead me to think he will be able to pull up off the dribble on a dime efficiently (we have not seen him do it often, if at all, in college). Nice handle and very good playmaking with a nice attack mentality. Great article by Jackson Hoy here.
5c. Bol Bol. Starter, bench scorer. It’s probably surprising to some that he’s down here, but I have major concerns about his frame (super high hips and he’s very thin all around, so adding muscle could be problematic), his passing is not particularly good, awkward movement patterns, and the low release on his jumper (even at his height) might be an issue going forward. He’s definitely one of the highest potential guys in the draft because of his scoring ability, but his awareness on both ends (and defensive motor) is questionable. He was caught out of position on defense many times before his injury and took shots where he was essentially behind the backboard.
