RT @MarkHeisler: This just in: Truth is in the proposal they're working on w/KG. May mean #Celtics take Caron w/1 year at $8M, plus whoever else

Not surprised. It's what everyone wanted. Sad to see that this is looking like a reality. Tough day to be a fan
Yeah, didnt think we'd be the ones giving in isnt Caron just a throw in that was part of the original deal/talks?

Pierce and Garnett combine for $27 million on the books. Unless it's another "agreement to release", I can't see enough salary coming back.

Unless, of course, it's Pierce + Garnett for Jordan, Griffin, and Butler, but that's just a pipe dream.

Shhhh. You'll jinx it.
Hey, I'll throw in Sullinger, too, if that's going to make it happen.

Jamal Crawford has to be in it if Pierce is, doesn't he?

That is the only way I can see to make the numbers work.

Are we just trading these guys just for the sake of trading them?

Good Lord this is getting uglier and uglier by the minute. I'm certain Pierce could land us more than just Caron Butler. Rather have Paul expire.

I think this is just a grand scheme by Danny to get Ryan Hollins back in town

Congratulations, my friend—you just earned your first Tommy Point for that one!

Did Deandre Jordan really shoot 38% for FT last year? That takes horrible to a whole other level.
What do you mean "last year"? He has shot below .400 for FTs in 3 of his 5 years in the league, and his career average is .425.

That makes me feel better..ugh..just puked in my mouth  :P

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--celtics--clippers-resume-push-to-get-kevin-garnett-doc-rivers-deal-done-160920220.html

Quote
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers are discussing possible compromises to including guard Eric Bledsoe into the Kevin Garnett-Doc Rivers deal with hopes of completing an agreement on Monday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett could soon be headed to Los Angeles. (Getty Images)Discussions over a blockbuster deal reached an impasse on Saturday when Boston general manager Danny Ainge held firm that Bledsoe had to be a part of package that included DeAndre Jordan and a first-round pick, but sources say that Boston has shown a willingness to find another asset to supplant Bledsoe and complete the complicated deal, sources said.

What other "asset" do the Clippers have, though? None that I can see. Butler is still decent but is 33, so I wouldn't be inclined to call him an asset.
my guess it will be salary relief i.e. Bass, Lee, or Terry is included in the trade with Butler coming back.

I could go for that. Butler's still a decent player and could make a good backup to Green at the 3. And I'd be totally fine cutting Bass, Lee, and especially Terry to clear some cap space.

One thing to remember, I think, is that Danny's end game is much more than DJ or Bledsoe, I'm sure, as others have suggested—he's probably collecting as many pieces (youngsters, draft picks, and cap space) as possible in order to go over one or two star/superstar players, such as Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, DMC, etc.
If we're taking Butler back, we can fir Lee or Terry or both in a deal which features no other players. Not sure how it helps us, though.

Pipedream here but could the compromise be Griffin and Butler for Doc, KG and Pierce. Celtics ask for no compensation for Doc but take Griffin and Butler.

Well, Griffin would certainly be an asset, wouldn't he!

it is going to be Jordan and the clippers pick this year and next in the first round...which both will be low and have no impact on rebuilding

just hire del negro and really ramrod the fans danny

Welcome to a decade of irrelevancy.

Horrible, horrible trade.

Or we can always let them walk away and get absolutely nothing back which makes the Celtics super irrelevant in the next decade!

it better be giving up Doc/KG/Pierce for Jordan and a bag of chips is what it sounds like right now...don't care about a couple picks or Butler or Crawford.
