On Sunday, ESPN analyst Zach Lowe joined NBA news breaker Adrian Wojnarowski for a chat in which they discussed potential trade packages.

“Is Boston going to offer Jaylen Brown? I don’t think so,” Lowe said, while Wojnarowski shook his head in agreement. “To me there’s not much point in giving up one star for another, if you’re Boston.”

Lowe noted that several teams who could target Beal in trade talks might not have ideal assets available — the Warriors have a pair of middling lottery pick and some young pieces, while the Miami Heat could offer Tyler Herro, whose trade value plummeted this season.

So you trade Brown for Beal.

Tatum + Beal + ? = title

I prefer

Tatum + Brown + ? = title

After next season, the J's will attract the 3rd star.

Y’all missing the point. If Beal wants to come and Cs want to make Tatum happy is Brown gone?

If they can't find a way to trade for him without including Brown just wait until free agency

I don’t know why Brown for Beal is even a discussion. If we trade Brown it would be for a player already signed for next few years, like KAT. I think Brown needs to go. Sorry. So does Marcus & TT & half the bottom of the roster. Roster overhaul is needed like when we traded for Ray Allen & KG. Brown is our best tradeable asset as is Smart. Do it Brad. I didn’t include Tatum for obvious reasons.

Your reasons are not so obvious since I have to ask, what are the obvious reasons?

Contract and it doesn’t make team better. We may have better offense but poorer on defense. It’s pointless to make that trade. Plus we should sign Fournier instead of losing him straight up. There’s lots we can do but Brown for Beal isn’t one of them. Whats obvious to me may not be to others it’s why they’re called opinions.

Heard one national pundit call this “the silly season”, and it really is.

Wacko trade ideas based on nothing, by people who don’t have inside information (which is just about everybody.

The ever-present: “You all have a right to MY opinion.”

“This team should be built just like [insert current NBA champ].

“Draft X player because we need help at Y position”. BPA is almost always the way to go.

Worrying about the cap, as if it’s your money.

“Injury-prone” when the injuries are unrelated.

Pretending mid-level guys will make the team into a champion.

“It works in the trade machine”

The silly season is well underway.

I would not trade Brown for Beal, pretty much a lateral move, but I'd trade pretty much anything outside of the J's for Beal.  And I think Stevens would as well.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

There is a bigger issue. If Beal asks to be traded to Boston most intelligent people will assume he has spoken to Tatum. Brown will probably figure those two have spoken. How does he take that?

Do we really want to go down that road? I guess it’s the modern NBA, but I am not ready to.

A lot of people here complained about Lebron having too much influence in building the Lakers roster. Anyone could be sent out to get whoever he wanted playing next to him. I would bet most of them were unhappy that Kevin and Kyrie seemed to have the same swag in Brooklyn.

Just this season plenty of people were complaining that Tatum had been given the keys to the team, but he was: too young/hadn’t earned it/wasn’t good enough/didn’t play hard enough- to be a leader yet.

Yet now Brad is supposed to go out and get whoever he wants to play with? Like Lebron? Brad should certainly listen to his input, but I don’t want to hear Tatum saying he wants Beal on the team no matter what!

Brad - Hey Jaysun, I know you really wanted Bradley on the team, but Washington is insisting on Jaylen, and that’s too much to give up.
Jaysun - I don’t care. Do what it takes unless you want me to be a Laker in 2 years.

Because I’m not okay with the Celtics going down that road.

What makes you think Jaylen wouldn’t also be part of that conversation?

Can we use Fournier in a sign and trade package for Beal?
