I would understand having the Lakers vs. Cavs on Christmas day if we were no longer relevant again, but we still draw big time ratings, and the Lakers-Celtics rivaly beats the Lebron/Shaq-Kobe rivalry. This potential schedule is just the NBA's way of trying to give Cleveland attention and momentum early on in the season for a finals run. Can't wait to watch the Celtics spoil those plans!

I'm not sure whether or not to be disappointed about there being no C's-Lakers Christmas day game...we usually seem to have bad luck with those anyways. I was just looking forward to getting vengeance against the Fakers on the best holiday of the year.

Kobe v. Lebron/Shaq is a television executive's dream.  I can't blame the NBA for doing this.

I don't mind that this at all. I'd rather be able to relax on Christmas!

yeah, but KG, Pierce, Ray, Rondo, Sheed, Perk, and company are all pretty darned good too, and also carry high tv ratings with them. However, I'm not even as upset about Christmas as I am at the fact that we have to start next season off in Cleveland, we never seem to do well in that building. Hopefully we'll bring the pain and hand em a double digit loss at home to start the season  ;D

At least its another year where I don't have to worry about angering my mom when my dad and I blow off Xmas dinner to go to the Garden for an Xmas day game.

lol this is very true...my mom would prefer me not screaming at my tv set in the middle of attempted "family time" anyways haha

Going back to the days of Jordan on NBC, high television ratings aren't necessarily about the teams, its about the individual matchups.  Look at the way that ESPN/ABC advertises the NBA these days.  Its about the individual players, not the names on the front of the jersey.

And, right now, nothing is bigger than a Kobe v. Lebron/Shaq storyline.

The season used to tip off on November 1. The pre-season begins in early October.

I've got to say I don't really care.

Our guys will get to rest and be with their families.

This is very true...I understand the value in marketing individual players, but I wish the league could somehow focus on team chemistry a little more than just on one player...I know, I'm one of the very few that feels this way haha. with twitter being popular now, it's sort of difficult to focus on teams when the world is focusing on one player. the age of communication and information.

I don't want us to play on Christmas. Unless it's an easy game that we should win. Last year's loss ruined my day. I don't want that happening again.
