The talk yesterday was Gordon Hayward + 1st to Pelicans for Jrue Holiday. Didn't materialize

KOC: "I heard Chicago asked about Kemba"

Interesting.
I wonder what Kemba's value is. Zach Harper tweeted that Ainge was offering Kemba to teams for picks, but couldn't get enough assets for Kemba to satisfy New Orleans.

In fairness, that may say more about the kitchen sink that the Bucks threw at NOP than it does about Kemba's perceived value.

Guessing time, who breaks the Hayward decision first on Twitter?
Mark Murphy will break it if it's an extension, Shams will get it if he opts out or in, Woj will break it if it's a trade.

I think it's more likely that the Celtics get value in the deal if Hayward opts in and then is traded (compared to a sign and trade)  so i'm hoping he opts in.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Was listening to the ringer podcast and Kevin O'connor nonchalantly drops that Gordon and our three first were on the table for Holiday.

If Hayward opts out it will alter what Boston can do.
All you get in return is a 9 mill MLE. My guess is Boston would not make trades (Kemba) and continue to build through the draft hopefully by moving up

No doubt it would cripple Boston

So crippled that they basically have the same team that beat Toronto in 7 like 2.5 months ago.

Not surprised in the least, Delay it till after the draft so there is no chance at getting any sort or compensation should he decide to opt out.

You have some really bad takes, man.

They’re obviously working on either a trade or an extension.

So? That raptors team wasn’t that good. And they lost to Miami. Bring back this same team and they go nowhere in the playoffs. Worst bench in the nba.

He's gone.

Only reason to extend the deadline is because he's not opting in unless they find a trade.

I read it as Hayward was ready to opt out, but he gives them 2 more days to work out a trade first. This way they can try to send him to a team without cap room, where he wants to play and then can get something in return. If he opts out, the Cs are screwed, but he also can only go to a team with the money to pay him.

Ugh so horrible to have to bring back this young team built around two young stars and watch them grow together for another season!

We're cursed! So tough to be a Celtics fan.

Just saw on Twitter:

"Gordon Hayward and the Celtics are working to extend the deadline on Hayward to decide on his $34.2 million player option for the 2020-21 season from today at 5 p.m. to Thursday afternoon, league sources tell ESPN."

Are we also supposed to completely ignore the fact that Toronto would have had home court advantage in a normal year, and the Celtics have difficulty playing in Toronto?
