Never want to overact to one game, but first impression was lakers need a lot more

It was very obvious the moment the Lakers gutted their team for Anthony Davis.

I mean Lebron and AD plus a bunch of mercenaries?

That approach doesn't work in the NBA.

Another team that might surprise a lot of Celtic fans here is the Sixers.

Sixers have become slower with Horford.

And losing Redick and Jim Butler means the Sixer offense will be unbalanced.

As I said the Lakers are levels below true contenders like the Clippers as those teams can trot out a good team without one of their superstars.

I actually think the Sixers will be fine, they have 5-6 nice top end pieces instead of 2-3 on the Lakers.

TNT Crew season prediction for NBA finals:

Dwayne Wade:  LA Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Kenny Smith:    Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Charles Barkley: LA Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Shaquille O'Neal: LA Lakers vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Ervin Johnson:  LA Clippers vs. Milwaukee Bucks

I don't even see the Lakers making the playoffs, much less the finals.
1 loss down, 35-40 more to go!

Not surprised at this outcome, not expecting the Lakers to be a top tier team this year.

Sixers would've been fine if they didn't add Horford.

Unless the Sixers bench Horford, every time Horford is in the game the Sixers will be slow.

In preseason, you can already see the improved offensive rebounding of the Celts after Horford left.

It's not about the other pieces the Sixers have now, it's about the pieces they lost.

Jimmy Butler was a scorer, a go to guy in the clutch.

Redick made sure Embiid was not going to be doubled every time.

Both Sixers and Lakers just don't have the right mix of players.

I think a go to guy is overrated on Philly. They have players who can score-Embiid is a monster and Harris is a viable isolation scorer. And Redick's defense made him a net neutral on that squad at best, imo Richardson is a better fit than him on Philly. I think Philly will do fine, they're a top 3 team in the East barring injuries.

Yep, many have been, and will continue to do so.  I think they’re a scary playoff team, but I don’t think they make the playoffs.  The bench is way too thin to get through 82 games, especially with LeBron and Davis likely to need some games off during the season.  The West is too deep for them to make up the almost certain losses when LeBron doesn’t play.  Jared Dudley -20 in 13 minutes? Oof.

That's what I've been basically saying since last season, before you go into playoff mode you need to secure a playoff spot first.

I know we're biased but I really don't see how the Lakers are considered a stronger contender than the Clippers. The Clippers kept basically their entire core from last season's scrappy vet team and added two legit superstars. The Lakers took a roster that didn't sniff the playoffs, gutted it for Davis and filled it out with a bunch of fading veterans. They're at least a year away from being a legit contender in my opinion, and that's another year of LeBron aging.

One thing I remember rolling my eyes at last night was Reggie and Kevin Harlan talking about the Lakers roster, and they tried to spin it like they purposefully went out to sign those guys.  Something like how they want to win a championship, so they went out and got all vets who know how to win.  Like it was a strategic move and not them having to pull guys off the scrap heap.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class
