Out of the ones mentioned, I loved Cloverfield. Also, liked Hulk (the Eric Bana version) and Spider-Man 3 (loyalty?).

As for movies that looked good but were awful, I'll have to submit a few:

This is England, Hancock, Eastern Promises, The Devil's Rejects, Ghost Rider, Captivity, Matrix Revolutions, Doom, 88 Minutes all spring to mind. There's more too.

Man, we really have different tastes in movies. Eastern Promises and Devil's Rejects were both phenomenal. Spider-Man 3 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Wow, Eastern Promises was far from phenomenal, it could have been so much better than it was. Viggo Mortensen was great, but every time I see him I just picture him as Aragorn. The Devil's Rejects was the worst film I've ever seen bar none. Honest to God, it was shockingly bad.

As for Spider-Man 3, I admit it was disappointing, but I was such a fan of the first two that I don't feel right calling it terrible. Hopefully 4 & 5 make up for it.

The Village. I hated that movie. I also agree with Open Water. I was astounded by how it got so good reviews, it was terrible.

Spider Man 3 was definitely an abomination. They took one of the coolest parts of the whole spiderman (venom) and made it incredibly goofy. The whole movie was goofy.

The Village had M. Knight's best twist, the fact that Joaqin Phoenix was only in the first third of the movie.  ;D

Devil's Rejects was absolutely awesome, anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

You're also kidding yourself if you thought either of the last two Spider Man movies, either of the Matrix sequels, anything with the Hulk, or Ghost Rider....looked anything but lame as hell.

Pineapple Express looked hilarious, but that movie was a pile of garbage.

I don't think I've ever hated a movie in the theater more than Juno.
That had to the most overrated movie in the history of cinema.

Um... guys.... how about the Phantom Menace?

or Indiana Jones 4?

So for i'm seeing people list movies that looked bad and were bad, or looked OK and were OK...

Well the Ang Lee Hulk movie sucked pretty badly. It had some good moments, but... The CG work was terrible & the Hulk has daddy issues angle was terrible.

As a side note: the Incredible Hulk from this past year was awesome! Action packed. Excellent FX work. And really had some good nostalgia for the TV show.

I believe somebody in another thread mentioned "I Am Legend".
As I big fan of the book I was really excited with the release of this movie.  While I won't call it "awful" I did consider it a disappointment.  The first half of the movie was great but really fell apart at the end.

I agree with that.

It started very promising and then slowly started to disappoint.

Terms of Endearment. It won best picture. Maybe I'm just not deep enough to understand it's greatness. Maybe I was too tired at the time to enjoy it. I do recall feeling drowsy.......

The Darjeeling Limited. I really enjoyed The Life Aquatic, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, etc, so I was extra disappointed by that one.

Artificial Intelligence- It sucked.

No, I'm not kidding myself at all.

The Devil's Rejects was the worst movie I've ever seen. Easily. Nothing really comes close.

Agreed on the Matrix sequels and Ghost Rider, they were rubbish beyond belief. However I disagree with your assessment of the Hulk (both Bana and Norton) and Spider-Man 2 and to a degree part 3.

Spider Man 3 was definitely an abomination. They took one of the coolest parts of the whole spiderman (venom) and made it incredibly goofy. The whole movie was goofy.

They fell into the Batman trap of trying to squeeze to many villains into the movie.

They could have made a great movie about Spiderman and Harry.  Or Spiderman and Sandman (without trying to make Sandman into a character we might feel sympathy)

Venom is almost a two movie story if you want to do it right.  One part about Spiderman and the Suit.  One part about Venom.  The first part could be incorporated into a story involving another villain.

if they make another Spiderman movie, they should just do 'Kraven's Last Hunt'  They have it set up perfectly.  Peter can be preoccupies with death because of Harry dieing.  They already introduced Conner; the Lizard can take the part of Vermin.

Yes, I am a comic book nerd.  (sort of)
