1) They're Celticsblog's "karma" system.  They come from other posters and mods, who give them for post they find particularly noteworthy, whether they be to insight, humor, good will, etc.

2) To give one, click on the "giveth one" button under a users name.  You're restricted to giving one Tommy Point per hour.

  • Yup
...and there is no way to tell who gives them or for what post.  Unless, someone says "Great post TP" then you can figure where that one came from
Yup

I think I tried to post this before but I never saw any answers or I missed it...

I know what Tommy points are, but who gives them out on this board.

I think I have 37 but I don't know where they came from.

Do other posters give them out? If so, how can I give one?

Thanks

Ok, yeah, I guessed I missed the last reply. It probably fell to page three or something pretty quick.

So basically you accumulate Tommy points from other posters clicking the "giveth one" one because they liked what you wrote for some reason.

Poster and Mods can give them to you.

Ok, thanks.

The BIG question, though, is how does one award a NEGATIVE tommy point.  There was a thread recently where a poster, with his first post no less, was trashing the Celts playing in game three.  He had a -1 tommy point total, I tried to see how this is done, but couldn't find an explanation anywhere.

Is it just the ghost of Red?

You can't anymore.

That is a little mystery the staff has been discussing.

TP's are usually awarded for a post
that stands out. It may be funny or
it may be something which gives you
great insight into something.

All posters can give each other TP's
but once you've given someone a TP
you must wait an hour to do it again.
So my suggestion is that you save them
for someone really deserving (like me ;D)

I guess you could say it's like a virtual
pat on the back.
