Every year I go through this same debate in my head and every year I stay loyal to "Live". I've always enjoyed EA sports games and this year with "NBA DNA" they regain the prime-time basketball gamer.

This is my dilemma as well. I really like the go-to-moves for the star players which makes it a little bit more "real". All the sports games I've ever (really just college) played were all EA.

not to nit pick, but NBA2k has had "player spacfic" moves for the last two years. Last year there were 400 Unique jumpshots, and a ton of player spacific move set (15 low post sets alone)

"wade's "sprint back", lebron biting his nails, shaqs walk off, Kobe's hand up till net then turn and fist pump, ect)

from what i've seen of DNA, its NBA2k's "isomotion" with a difrent name.

I'll probley gamefly them both, but i'd be shocked if NBA2k gets unseated. we'll see though.

O RLY?!

Whoa, I wish I knew that. Maybe I'll try 2k9 then. It's a shame they don't make a demo.

2k9 all the way...way more realistic, less arcade like.  if i wanted to play an arcade basketball gama, i can always setup my sega genesis and play nba jam!

There's a 2K9 demo out now (on PS3 anyway, don't know about on Xbox), and I've played the demos for 09 and Live too.

It's no contest. 2K all the way.

no kidding, what a botch on the face of a star...

Hopefully 2k9 picks it up on celtics character models though. KG was fine, but ray was bad, and paul was awful too. Never mind rondo and perk, who looked like generic character models.

Okay. After playing the Live and 2k9 demos back to back. I'm going with 2k9.

In my opinion, 2K wins as far as detail and realism is concerned.

Here is a 2k9 review, that really talks about NBA live.

I apologize for waisting everyones time with this thread.  After playing both demos I realized how great 2K is.  The new shout stick is unreal,  and when playing it is almost like watching the game on TV.  I mean yes the closeups remind you its a videogame but the broadcast camera is legit.  Did you also notice how skinny the guys on live are.  Last but not least respect factor.  2K paid attention to detail, and did not forget REDS name on the court,  Live did.  Enough said !!!!!!

I don't know about 2K being more realistic when it comes to gameplay.  I mean, everytime i play it, it feels like there's 10 Zydrunas Ilgauskas's on the court.
