Hi guys.

I'm a regular reader, but haven't posted much (if at all, can't remember really).  Anyway, I was looking at realgm.com and they say that Washington likely won't get fair value for either Butler or Jamison if they move them and may have to settle for expiring deals/draft picks.  I went into the trade checker and both of these work.  It's probably a pipe dream, but what do you guys think about these?  Either one would greatly improve the bench and would also provide some insurance for 2010-11 if they decide not to bring Ray back.  Also, neither is on a long term deal (Butler-1 yr left/Jamison-2 yrs left) so the financial commitment would not hamstring the team for years to come.  Since these are 4 for 1 and 5 for 1 deals, they'd have to re-stock the roster with 2-3 vet min./buyout guys (and Scal/Giddens/TA may be candidates for that if one of these deals went down).  Anyway, Washington could probably get better offers than either of these, but hopefully Danny will at least kick the tires...

Deal #1: Scal, TA, Davis, Giddens, 1st round pick for Butler

Deal #2: Scal, TA, Davis, Giddens, House, 1st round pick for Jamison

Thoughts?

Well, I don't think either of those packages are realistic, because of the number of players involved, but to play along, I would prefer Jamison. He would be major KG insurance, and IMO is the better player.

The deal that I think would make the most sense though would be something along the lines of Ray and Big Baby for Jamison and Mike Miller.  It would be a no brainer if they agree to buy out Allen, but even if they didn't, I think Miller could slide right in for Allen.  And if we want to get greedy, we could try to add in Foye and either Tony Allen or Scal.

It starts and ends with Ray.

If the Celtics cold trade Ray to get Butler along with players like Miller and Foye, they should jump at it.

Agreed.
no way we could package spare parts for Butler or Jamison.

and I go for Butler above Jamison, but could see arguments either way.

Butler... Could slide in the starting lineup for Ray better than Jamison.

Butler would probably be a better fit, but I like Jamison better.  He's an elite garbage man who gets big numbers in the flow of the game.  Plus, as old as he is, I don't get the sense that he is breaking down or declining at all.

I agree that Jamison is the better player, but if we trade Ray, we would need a wing player that could put up 15-20ppg.  So Butler would have to be the choice.

Jamison "elite garbage man"  geesh, why would we want an aging
player, when we could have a talented wing.  Butler has many more years left.  Jamison doesn't.  Caron would be a steal, if we were able to keep Ray Allen.  Besides, Big Baby, Scalabrine love to visit museums in the Greater Washington Area.

What do you think about either?
WAS: Jamison, Butler, Young & Oberto
BOS: R.Allen,T.Allen, BBD & Scal
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5403084
A deal like this works for both teams.
We move only a starter but the bench get really better.
WAS dumps heavy salaries and get a young player in DAvis.
