Owen Crisafulli thinks it would only take Derrick White and some picks.

https://hardwoodhoudini.com/2022/06/25/boston-celtics-conley-brogdon-trade/

Here's Brogdon's bonafides:

NBA Rookie of the Year (2017)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (2017)
50–40–90 club (2019)
Consensus first-team All-American (2016)
Consensus second-team All-American (2015)
NABC Defensive Player of the Year (2016)
ACC Player of the Year (2016)
3× First-team All-ACC (2014–2016)
2× ACC Defensive Player of the Year (2015, 2016)

Even though Brogdon was injured last year, he's healthy now and is a strong, strong defensive player.

I'd be willing to give up White, PP, and a future first-rounder with a pick swap in a future year.

Brogdon would replace White in essence, and a backup PG like Goran Dragic could be attained.

Brogdon was a BIG loss for the Bucks two years ago.  He could be the piece to take the Celtics over the top.

Brogdon has a very lengthy injury history. Also, the Pacers were hopeful to get a mid-first for him on draft night, but found no takers.  Accordingly, I think White, Pritchard, and a 1st is a significant overpay.

I like him, but at a much lower cost.

Kinda weird to kick the 6th man/back up PG can down the road again....seems like a waste to keep spending future 1sts on a maybe upgrade at that position.

Not much. I love his game, but his injury history scares me. If the Pacers are willing to do White + salary filler(s) for Brogdon, I'd pull the trigger. In a vacuum, Brogdon > White, but Brogdon is battling with a chronic injury issue, he's almost 3 years older, plus he's on a heftier contract.

In any case, I fully expect the Pacers to trade him during the offseason.

not a thing. if he fit in to the TPE and was an expiring, sure. But to match salaries we'd have to give up a few rotation players - not worth it for a guy with so much injury history.

Last three seasons he played 56, 54, and 35 games. He’ll be 30 next year. Derrick White straight up is an overpay.

Yeah, I'm hesitant to even give up D White for Brogdon. I don't want to see our title bid derailed by an injury. I don't think this is a risk I want to take.

Even with injuries, I think he is enough better than White to make the swap, but I wouldn't be happy if we included picks to get it done.

RAPTOR gives a significant adjusted +/- edge to White for the last 3 years based primarily on defense, where he blows Brogdon away.

Brogdon's also had a  lot of problems staying on the court for each of the 5 seasons since his rookie season. He's the better offensive player though. A straight-up trade is debatable and adding picks to DW is a non-starter.

I think the guy who is available is always better than the guy who isn't.

I'd do this

Brogdon, Turner

for

White, Theis, Nesmith, Pritchard, Stauskas, 23 1st
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I'd keep Pritchard just to make sure we still have a backup PG should Smart or Brogdon miss games.  We'd be helping Indy out by just taking on the salaries of Brogdon and Turner.  no need to give up more than necessary

I'm not here to claim that Brogdon is the model of health, but I always feel the need to clarify when people bring up total games played in 19-20 and 20-21, as there were only ~72 games over each of those two seasons. Still not great, but not as catastrophic as it seems. But, yeah, this past season wasn't great for him.

Always thought watching him at VA he was a natural for Celtics ball.

Injuries have derailed much of my excitement

kinda like Hayward ,  his skill set fits the Stevens /IMe scheme ,  I just don’t trust either to stay available over a long season .
