Nets want a historic haul for Durant. More than 8 picks with swaps and players to boot!

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/07/nets-are-seeking-historic-haul-for-kevin-durant.html#ref=home
Durant is 34yo. They can p--- off!
The article doesn't say they want 8 picks.  It says they want something better than the Pelicans got for AD and the Thunder got for PG.  Which you know makes sense, since Durant is better than both of those guys.

No, it doesn't; he [Durant] is too bloody old.

BKN should expect to get less than those teams got. Those teams were trading younger players with more years ahead of them.

Durant better than them and has 4 years left on his contract.

Why does the years he has left even factor in? I'm honestly asking. He can't even honor the 1st year of his extension. The time left shouldn't matter to a new team. There's no guarantee he won't ask out in a year's time.
exactly.  he hasn't exactly established himself as someone who will honor a contract but more as someone always looking for another opportunity regardless of his current contractual obligations

Saw a tweet and it's kind of hard to argue.

Funny that KD's primary preferences after demanding a trade are to last year's two #1 seeds (Miami and Phoenix). Does it show what kind of guy he really is?

Shocking behaviour, especially after he left the Thunder to join up with the  - checks notes  - best team in the league thanks to an aberration in the salary cap.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

Exactly the reason I've soured on him. For all the talk around here about "heart" and "dog", Durant isn't the guy we thought he was. He left a playoff team to join 73 win team that beat them, left that team to prove he could win on his own, chose to go to Brooklyn with his best friend and is still bailing.

If it was anyone else with a few less accolades, we'd be calling them a malcontent.

Simplified path to getting KD now that we have Brogdon, and know the Nets want four firsts given that Gobert fetched four firsts:

BOS In: KD, Curry
BKN In: AD, Smart, Westbrick, 2026 & 2028 LAL 1st, 2025 & 2027 BOS 1st
LAL In: Kyrie, JB

Team-level:

BOS In: KD, Curry
BOS Out: JB, Smart, 2025 & 2027 1st

BKN In: AD, Smart, Westbrick, 2026 & 2028 LAL 1st, 2025 & 2027 BOS 1st
BKN Out: KD, Kyrie

LAL In: Kyrie, JB
LAL Out: AD, Westbrick, 2026 & 2028 1st

Who says no and why? Perfect spin for the Nets, Lakers and Celtics. We become title favorites along the Lakers and Warriors. Who the heck else would we wanna face in the Finals but either one of those two, especially with KD as a Celtic at long last?

Look at our rotation now:

Brogdon/Veteran PG who’s a friend of KD/Horford
White/Curry/Pritchard
Tatum/Batman
KD/Horford or Gallo
Timelord/Horford

Bench: (3) ring-chasing vets/friends of KD/Horford at the minimum, Davison and/or Begarin

Let’s do this, Brad! Converting JB/Smart into KD/Brogdon/Curry is a huge improvement, particularly if our depth becomes friends of KD’s along for the ring-chasing ride.

Can someone quickly check on whether Brogdon is tight/friends with KD?

Getting Brogdon was a stroke of genius by Brad. Right place at the right time. Hopefully it’s just the opening firework! 💥

Dude, you really need to keep your trade proposals in your thread. You can't keep trying to hijack threads with them. Not cool.

10-4. I’ve fixed the errors. I’m just psyched. I’ve got a feeling the fireworks are finally coming just in time for the 4th. We are headed to banner 18, baby.

They are both high-level in the NBAPA (VP's) so they clearly know each other.  Both are well-spoken and level-headed.  They will get along fine.

This KD talk is getting old. You all saw the Gobert package and KD is better, so no way the C's can swing it. Brad has now used all his 1st-round-pick bullets that he is allowed to use.

Being totally honest, I would be happy if we didn't get KD if it meant our chemistry and synergy remained intact. Obviously he's an All-World player but the chemistry risk is real. It's not as simple as NBA2k where there's some omnipotent god playing the team and chemistry is irrelevant. Brad alluded to it when he talked about team building.

Quote
When it came to adding key pieces to the rotation, Stevens said the Celtics, “Have to walk a fine line a little bit. I think teams are fragile.

“With our group in particular, it’s not as much about blindly acquiring talent as it is fitting a team together,” Stevens said. “We’ve got some very, very talented guys, and they are young. So it’s about how do we fit together, bring our strengths together to accentuate each other.”

https://theathletic.com/3395726/2022/07/01/celtics-trade-malcolm-brogdon-pacers/

Not to say that KD wouldn't be a huge add. Just that we've all seen the disasters that happen when people try to build superteams on talent alone and don't think about chemistry. These players, unlike the ones in NBA2k, are human beings with human feelings and egos that need to be managed. I think Brad, being a former coach, knows this. He lived through the issues of having too much talent on one team and players becoming uncertain of their roles, or putting their own needs and ambitions ahead of the team, when we had Cryrie, Mook, the Jays, Smartacus, Gordie, T-Roze and others and there were too many mouths to feed. It's a huge risk to blow up a good thing, even to add a player of KD's caliber.

I know you're a tinkerer and a trade addict though so I expect you to keep figuring out complicated (and totally unrealistic) ways of trying to get the Slim Reaper here

Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D
