I realize Laker fans are entitled and delusional, and they have good reason to be after some of the robberies they’ve gotten away with over the years in terms of lopsided trades, but there’s no way there is truth to this right?

That has never been a rumor.  Just because LA wouldn't mind dumping Westbrook and have been connected to Irving, doesn't mean a Westbrook for Irving swap makes sense.  And while this isn't a rumor something like Westbrook and Davis for Simmons and Irving has been floated on sports talk shows.  That makes way more sense for the Nets while still making sense for the Lakers.

Now if you want a Westbrook rumor, there is apparently a fair amount of smoke with Charlotte.  The idea being Charlotte would trade Hayward and Rozier to clear their cap for the summer of 2023 and because they believe Rozier is getting in the way of LaMelo's development (though I don't see how Westbrook wouldn't unless they just tell him to stay at home).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yeah I imagine they just buy him out like they did Batum and have a bunch of dead cap space for a year then a ton of space going forward to build around Melo.

Makes sense for Charlotte, but I doubt they’d give up Hayward too, it would probably be something like Rozier, Plum and Oubre. Hayward could still net a decent return I imagine, especially with just 2 years left on that deal. When healthy he’s still highly productive, it’s just the healthy part that’s the problem.

Charlotte is apparently willing to attach a 1st to dump Hayward off.  He has no value.  His contract is just too big for the health issues.

Interesting. I just read that too. Looks like they’re looking for a total reset, and would rather the instant relief of Haywards money off the books, and then to eat a year of Westbrook and Batum to get to cap heaven by next offseason.

LAL In: Kyrie, KD
BKN In: AD, Westbrick, 2028 LAL 1st, 2026 LAL 1st, 2023 CHI 2nd, 2023 LAL 2nd, 2023 MEM/WAS 2nd, 2025 LAL 2nd, 2027 LAL 2nd, 2028 LAL 2nd, 2028 WAS 2nd, 2025 LAL 1st swap, 2027 LAL 1st swap, 2029 LAL 1st swap

Brooklyn saves face by getting all those picks/swaps and AD. LeBron gets one last hurrah. Lakers know they’re rebuilding with free agency post-LeBron anyway.

How many years does he still have in that contract? MJ must be kicking himself now for getting into a bidding war with us?

So far laker fans think they are dumping Westbrook for Kyrie and they are signing Beal.

Delusional.

Just wait and see. LeBron’s cooking up a deal and we’re once again about to worry about the Lakers surpassing us in the title count.
