Celtics do tend to play a little better when they're not rusty. And they have a solid road record in the playoffs.

But I'm just concerned about their health moving forward. Smart, Timelord...all the other guys had an exhausting series.

Expect a loss and the take the series. However if we get gm 1 I could see a sweep.

Heat don't scare me all.

White or Pritchard if Smart sits? I get the feeling that White is due... probably a balance of both depending on matchups is best though...

White will get the nod. I'm more interested in Williams v Williams, as it was reported Rob has no minutes restriction.

right. happens in NHL all the time. see a good team come off a 7 game series tired. start next series.....get blown out game 1 then bounce back and win series in 6 once their legs are back. if we can win game 1 whoa nellie. and if we win both in miami the heat will be in a bind. let's steal 1 if we can win both we might just sweep.

Totally agree.  Much less anxious about tonight than any game v. Milwaukee.  To follow game 7 with no letdown on the road 2 days later v. a rested home team - good chance it won’t play out well.  But likewise - hope they stay in it and can pull off the steal. Would love to see them pull out a close one at some point in this series.

Hard to believe we’re even having this discussion given where they were 4 months ago. .

Thought Heat would have a big advantage due to lack of rest for the Celtics, but they look more banged up than I thought based off the injury report.

From what I have read,  the Heat regularly have listed these and several players on the injury list as questionable but they all play every time with no restrictions.  So I am expecting all but Lowry to play without restrictions.  I think Pat Riley is playing mind games.

I expect celtics to come out ready to play. these guys are in their 20's (except for al). Also, lots of rest is actually not good for our team. look at game 1 against the bucks. we got blown out.

One difference from the heat/bucks is I expect the celtics to get much better shots in the paint and for rob williams to have a bigger impact. I mean Bam is their biggest player and hes 6-9. they will defend the 3 better than the bucks did. but tatum/brown should be able to get going alot earlier since they wont have to deal with Lopez/giannis in the paint.

I also expect us to be able to beat the zone this time unlike 2020 which was what basically lost us the series. that and Miami keying in on Kemba. also our top big that playoffs was theis!. now we have williams, horford and williams.

I have no idea what to expect out of the Celtics tonight. My mind says letdown given the short turnaround after Sunday but I could also see adrenaline taking over and continuing on a roll.

I see alot of heat fans bringing up 2020. they do know this is the team we trotted out.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202009170BOS.html

kemba/theis in the starting lineup.

wanamaker had  24minutes off the bench! and kanter 10!

funny to see grant williams as 10minutes with no impact and Robert williams a DNP. what a big development for those guys in 2 years.

Yeah I said this too, but the biggest difference to me is our frontcourt. Horford alone is currently way better than what we had back in 2020. I like Theis, but he's a role player not a starter. And in 2020 we had Theis/Kanter as our frontcourt duo lol (ugh). Basically made Bam Adebayo look like prime Wilt

Now we have Horford, Timelord, an improved G-Will and also Theis in the role he's best for off the bench. That's really good.

Also for as much as I bash on Derrick White, I think White is still better than some of the depth we had in that 2020 series in terms of guard-depth. I mean Wanamaker wasn't terrible but he didn't really do much either. White can actually play some defense too which will be key against a good shooting team that is Miami. Pritchard can also provide a bit of a jolt at times.

I hope Smart's okay and can play, but unlike 2020 I think this time around the C's truly have the best player on the court (Tatum). Brown is an awesome #2 as well and I think this season he's matured into that role and accepted it.

Refs today are Zarba and Tony Brothers

Honestly I'll take it. Game 1 might be a loss anyways and hopefully this means no Brothers the rest of the series. We'd just need to be wary of Foster down the road

i agree this is a much different team then 2020. Not having Kemba for the Heat to hunt on defense really changes how the Heat will attach the Cs defense. In 2020 the Theis vs Bam matchup was a nightmare. While Bam still has the advantage over the Cs bigs Al, Rob, Grant along with Theis closes that gap. I don't expect Lowry and Vincent to equal the production they received from Dragic in 2020.

With no Kemba or Kanter to hunt on defense the Heat are really going to have to put a lot on Butler and Hero to create offense.
