Washington trades Beal for a poo poo platter.  Ha ha ha

Two or three first-rounders is not a poo poo platter. If Beal says do it or I’m walking to join Detroit, who will do this deal ASAP, what’s Washington going to do? Beal has all the leverage right now, and him opting out is a sign this may be going down. He has Washington by the short and curlies. If he wants to be with his St. Louis brother JT, it’s happening and we’re getting him at a discount.

Beal is re-signing in Washington for his 5 year max and the Celtics won't be doing any sign and trade this year.

Scratch the idea. The math doesn’t work to get both Beal and KD unless Beal took a significant pay cut.

Probably so.

This is probably the best we can hope for unless Kawhi somehow becomes available:

BOS In: KD
BOS Out: JB, Theis, Stauskas, Fitts, mix of picks/swaps

Then we turn around and send some picks/TPE for the best available player who can play 3/2. Use the MLE on a 5/4 since Timelord is so injury-prone. Still an improved roster/rotations with two top ten (or top five) superstars:

Smart/White
JT/Pritchard
KD/TPE 3-2/Nesmith
Horford/G. Williams
Timelord/MLE 5-4

Bench: Ring-chasing vet PG, Davison, Begarin

Agreed. Zarren is very good, but nobody is good enough to make this team work with the hard cap that comes with a sign and trade. And I’d be shocked if Beal passes up the massive payday he’s eligible for.

If Danny wants to rebuild the Jazz and still has it in him to be Trader Danny (or is it Traitor Danny? I kid, I kid), well, he should start by getting involved with this Kyrie-to-LA Talk:

UTA In: Westbrick, 2026 LAL 1st, 2028 LAL 1st, 2023 PHI 1st
BKN In: Gobert
LAL In: Kyrie, Juancho Hernangomez AKA Hollywood’s Bball Unicorn 🤣

Who says no and why?

BKN immediately listens to KD’s request for a trade to Boston, and turns around and ships out KD for JB, Theis and some sort of mix of picks/swaps. Hello, Banner 18. Thanks, Danny!

Danny could maybe then turn around and ship Mitchell to Detroit after they strike out in FA—this would be classic Danny:

UTA In: Olynyk, Kemba, 2025 DET 1st, 2027 DET 1st, 2029 DET 1st
DET In: Mitchell

Then Danny can focus on moving the rest of the Jazz band for salary dumps and picks. Buy-out Westbrick (and Conley if he cannot be moved for picks), and let Kemba/Olynyk start as he tried to build up his trust again with players. Ultimately leads to a tank (those two in 2022-2023 as starters? 🤣) and hopefully results in the first overall pick in 2023, which has a transcendental player waiting to be drafted.

If Danny does the above, I’ll salute his efforts. Certainly what I’d try to do in the wake of Quin Snyder jumping ship. They’re only going to get a title by getting a ton of picks and hitting on most everyone of those picks.

An alternative scenario is Brad and Danny get together and suggest the following to LeBron and whoever is running Brooklyn’s Front Office and looking for a lifeline:

BOS In: KD
UTA In: AD, 2028 LAL 1st, Westbrick
BKN In: Mitchell, Gobert, 2026 LAL 1st
LAL In: Kyrie, JB, Theis, O’Neale

By team:

BOS In: KD
BOS Out: JB, Theis

UTA In: AD, 2028 LAL 1st, Westbrick
UTA Out: Mitchell, Gobert, O’Neale ($ match)

BKN In: Mitchell, Gobert, 2026 LAL 1st
BKN Out: KD, Kyrie

LAL In: Kyrie, JB, Theis, O’Neale
LAL Out: AD, Westbrick, 2026 LAL 1st, 2028 LAL 1st

The above would rock the NBA and possibly produce another Celtics Vs. Lakers Finals, or a Warriors/Celtics rematch with added drama of KD in Boston (either way, WCF is almost surely Lakers Vs. Warriors)

Jazz are getting robbed. Lakers getting back way too much. No way the Jazz go for that deal.

Not when you consider that AD can be flipped to someone like Detroit or Portland for 4-5 first-rounders/swaps. That plus LAL 2028 1st means they remove the Gobert albatross and trade Mitchell for 5-6 firsts/swaps. That’s a good deal. Move the rest of the parts for a full rebuild/tank in 2023.

AD still has serious value. Far more than Kyrie and JB.

In light of recent events, I would change the deal slightly such that O’Neale goes to the Nets instead of LAL, and the 2026 LAL 1st goes to Utah. So basically this:

BOS In: KD
UTA In: AD, 2026 & 2028 LAL 1st, Westbrick
BKN In: Mitchell, Gobert, O’Neale
LAL In: Kyrie, JB, Theis

Followed By:

UTA In: Multiple picks/swaps from Detroit and massive TPE
DET In: AD

Who says no to this? This is the wagon to hitch onto to get KD for JB/Theis without mortgaging picks. Without our involvement and the Jazz’s involvement, there’s no way to do this. Nets would be moving from a bad boy duo to the Jazz cleancut duo. LeBron gets his Big 3 with new little bro JB. Jazz reload on assets. We get our top 5 guy who gets us past the last two champions.

I admit I cried a little. They’ve got a really dynamic player on a contract that’s going to seem like the best bargain contract (this side of Timelord!) in the league in 1-2 years.

Pistons would give like one 1st for AD. They are rebuilding. Only a desperate team would give up more than two 1st for AD. That guy has checked out since he got his ring. He has very little value right now.

Simplified path to getting KD now that we have Brogdon, and know the Nets want four firsts given that Gobert fetched four firsts:

BOS In: KD, Curry
BKN In: AD, Smart, Westbrick, 2026 & 2028 LAL 1st, 2025 & 2027 BOS 1st
LAL In: Kyrie, JB

Team-level:

BOS In: KD, Curry
BOS Out: JB, Smart, 2025 & 2027 1st

BKN In: AD, Smart, Westbrick, 2026 & 2028 LAL 1st, 2025 & 2027 BOS 1st
BKN Out: KD, Kyrie

LAL In: Kyrie, JB
LAL Out: AD, 2026 & 2028 1st

Who says no and why? Perfect spin for the Nets, Lakers and Celtics. We become title favorites along the Lakers and Warriors. Who the heck else would we wanna face in the Finals but either one of those two, especially with KD as a Celtic at long last?

Look at our rotation now:

Brogdon/Veteran PG who’s a friend of KD/Horford
White/Curry/Pritchard
Tatum/Batman
KD/Horford or Gallo
Timelord/Horford

Bench: (3) ring-chasing vets/friends of KD/Horford at the minimum, Davison and/or Begarin

Wild idea that gets KD/Kyrie, the Nets, us and Phoenix everything we all could possibly want (keep in mind the Nets are not allowed to have both Ayton and Simmons, so if the rumors about KD insisting on Phoenix/Booker are true then they’re going to need a third team getting involved…at that point, might as well help give KD his two pals in Kyrie and Horford, right?):

BOS In: CP3, Ayton
PHX In: KD, Kyrie, Horford
BKN In: Smart, Bridges, Crowder, multiple picks/swaps from PHX/BOS

Team-level:

BOS In: Ayton, CP3
BOS Out: Smart, Horford, multiple picks/swaps

PHX In: KD, Kyrie, Horford (pal of KD)
PHX Out: Ayton, CP3, Bridges, Crowder, multiple picks/swaps

BKN In: Smart, Bridges, Crowder multiple BOS/PHX picks/swaps
BKN Out: KD, Kyrie

The following is an epic team if Grant is ready to start:
CP3/Brogdon
JB/White
Tatum/Ring-chaser
Batman/Gallo
Ayton/Timelord

It also addresses injury concerns at PG and Center by being borderline all-star with the starters and backups. Meanwhile, we retain our JT/JB duo and hopefully JB is indeed buddies with Brogdon. CP3 is the dude who brings the veteran leadership to the table with both him and Ayton having a chip on their shoulder, exactly what we need!
