Wow!! One win away from the AL Series!

So, who goes in game 4, Sale?

Yeah, the relievers have gone as much as you can hope for these last two games.

Better question, who does Tampa go with?

Vasquez the hero but Pivetta was the MVP of that game.

Yep, Pivetta was huge tonight.

If we are behind: Davis, Taylor, Barnes

If we lead: Barnes, Perez, Ottavino

For game 4 I think both teams are probably going to have bullpen games so it doesn’t matter so much who starts.

The Rays hit lefties so well, that I wouldn’t feel great giving Sale or Erod traditional starts.  I’d rather try and mix and max the whole game.  Obviously Eovaldi and Pivetta won’t be available for tomorrow.  Houck pitched 61 pitches on Friday, but he might be available for an inning or 2.

So for righties you’ll have Houck, Whitlock, Braiser, Robles, Barnes, and Ottavino available and for lefties Sale, Erod, Perez, Davis, and Taylor.   I hope Barnes and Otto are ready for action.

We might have to employ the same strategy if there is a game 5, but at least by then Eovaldi and Pivetta might be able to pitch an inning or 2.

For the Rays I believe Patino was scheduled to start tomorrow, and he pitched an inning tonight.  He’s probably available tomorrow for limited duty along with their game 1 and 2 starters, and most of their bullpen.

Edit: I meant to also say what a great win, and great walk off HR by Vasquez the 8th time a catcher has had a walk off homer in post season history!

Wasn't Barnes left off the roster for this series? Pretty sure I read that somewhere.

I thought the announcers said during the game Perez was a tarting tomorrow and we're confused as to why Perez was warming up in the bullpen.

Given Sale threw only 30 pitches on Friday, I would not be surprised to see him give Cora some innings tomorrow night

EDIT: Looks like Barnes was added due to a Richards injury

Yes, Richards injured himself warming up before Game 2 and Barnes came in and had a shocker, spraying it around...he made me nervous even though the score was 14-6.

It's amazing how the universe works sometimes.

Here we are in October and its a rescheduled Marathon Monday and we still get a Red Sox home game.

What a lucky break with that ground rule double. Let’s not waste it
I think the announcers are right. That play could lead to a rule change.

Now finish this!!!!

It's the baseball equivalent of the Tuck Rule!

What a crazy run they're on.  Playoff baseball is still pretty great.  So glad they squirmed their way into the postseason.  They have so many seasoned post season vets.

I know that we will never know what would’ve happened if the run counted but a) Pivetta got the next guy out and b) Vazquez hit a TWO run shot. So, it seems to me the Sox would’ve won anyway.

Balls that are ground rule doubles, without hitting a player, cost teams runs all the time.  This ground rule double just happened to bounce off a player.  I don't think they will change the rule.  This happens what, once every 50 years?

The Rays are a team that plays in a park where balls can hit the ceiling and there are all kinds of strange rulings and results.  This is a tough way to lose a key run in a playoff game but come on, we are Red Sox fans here.  How many crazy ways to lose a game have we had to suffer through over the years (and you can't even say that this definitely cost them the game).

It happened two years ago and the Rays benefited from it.  https://www.mlb.com/video/galvis-doubles-in-run-on-review

Why are the Sox playing on FS1 and the MLB Network?  Seems like a weird ratings choice.
