Why didn't Ainge pay Horford and cheaped out? Could've been something special with Kemba Walker here.

Now he ends up with a division rival, and arguably the team who will take the East. 76ers is copying the Raptors' blueprints of having size and length.
Because Ainge like a lot of people on here thinks that most players are overpaid..
that’s why he loves draft picks so much - rookie contracts are often underpaying the player.

Considering Jaylen is up in a year, paying 27million to Horford is alot. Especially when the deal takes him until hes 38

Eh a guy that wasn’t an all star last year and is entering his mid 30’s. A lot of people outside ainge think that is an overlay, including a lot of Philly fans
horford has started to look old. He doesn't get the vertical lift he used to

No sour grapes with Horford but I feel it was time to move on.

He's 33 and entering that stage where his minutes need to be managed during the season to be fresh for the playoffs (basically a  fringe full-time player.)

Thanks for your contributions and good luck to ya.

Would now like a younger and tougher power forward (and no.....NOT Kelly Olynyk.)

How did the Sixers get $30 million under the cap? They have Embiid, Simmons and Harris now locked up. How come we have 1 large contract but can barely get to a max contract and they have 3 but still get there??

Simmons isn't locked up yet - he is basically getting paid what Tatum is. Next year they will surely be in the luxury tax once they are paying him the max.

Other than Harris, there other max-ish players (Embiid and Horford) are considerably lower than your 30% or 35% max-level guys. Guys like Smart and Brown make up the rest of the difference.

That is alot of money to commit to a 34 year old who will be 38 when the contract ends.
Horford goes to the Sixers and he magically ages a year.  Horford just turned 33.  It is a lot of money but I expect they'll do plenty of load management on him and Embiid so they are healthy and rested for the playoffs.

Sixers have any guards? They have the all big team and we have the all small team. Personally I don't like the structure of either team both seem like a clueless collection of talent.

Sixers just need a shooting guard and they're set. They have Simmons on the point, Harris as the small forward, Horford as the power forward and Embiid at center.  And they'll probably address the shooting guard need depending on whom they acquire in the Butler sign and trade from Miami.

We still need a power forward and center.

It is amazing how Horford goes from a crucial part of our team to an old decrepit player on his last legs when the Sixers got him.  The fact is a bunch of people on here were hoping for Horford back at around 3yr/70M.

They're getting Josh Richardson.

Cs never entertained an offer for Al near to the one he got.

Woj says on The Jump that Horford's agent did "try to do a deal in Boston."

Boston did offer Horford a four-year deal, but it was "significantly less" money than Philly's offer, according to Woj.

It's all about the money for both sides. Cs did the right thing for themselves, as did Horford.

Except people were all season concerned with the consistent load management, slowing down and worsening defence. You can still be crucial without being worth $100m over 4 years

I think people have been pretty consistent. We all really love and he is a near all star. 4 years for that much money though scared just about everyone on the board going back a week. You can go look at the posts. Really incorrect post
