Yeah I don't get this trade for Washington. They gave up the best player in the deal and got no picks or prospects, just mediocre replacements.

I get it for the Wizards but I have to believe Porter's well-regarded enough that they could've gotten some kind of non-salary asset for him. Better than Portis I mean.

...oh hold up they're also getting a 2023 2nd. Jackpot!

Trading Porter for straight up cap relief and nothing else is a bit of a head-scratcher.  I would have thought that Porter would have some kind of positive value, even overpaid as he is.

This is a terrible panic move by the Wizards. There are going to be a lot of teams left this summer without the wing they sought after free agency. Porter is a 3&D guy that fits on a lot of teams and has still potential to become better, and with the cap increase his salary will start looking less destructive.

What are the Wizards going to do now the upcoming 4 years? No good players, no good assets, no good coach.
If they make the playoffs within 5 years than it's a bigger miracle than how the Nets have turned it around.
Maybe that has given the wrong impression that it's not that hard.

Edit: and so now what's left there for Beal? He'll demand to be traded and as a result the Wizards get pennies on the dollar.

Why? He's a 25 year old All Star with two fully guaranteed years on his deal after this season. They can and will get a premium return for him.

I'm surprised the Kings didn't go after Porter since all it took was a salary dump.

Me too. Perfect guy for them. Unless they want to keep cap space to sign Leonard or Durant.
Everybody seems to want cap space to sign top free agents. For some reason I think that some franchises will be disappointed  ;).
