All this tells me brogdan is getting dealt in any deal.

I think Brogdan, muscala, PP, grant, Gallo are all being shopped

Makes sense for Kristaps - like I said in another thread, it's likely he opts in and gets traded rather than waiting for a deal with Washington.

Based on what Sham has said on twitter (here: https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1671580933668114432 ) we can presume this is coming from the Wizards - whether the Celtics are actually 'pursuing' him remains to be seen.

Washington is trying to clear the decks, so if we assume they don't want long deals -  Brogdon, Gallo, Muscala and Pritchard works salarywise, I think. Beal's value was depreciated because of his contract, so Porzingis should bring in more than Beal.

The rumor could be coming from Porzingis’ camp too, to help them gauge his free agency market should he decline his option.

Agents work back door channels well before free agency starts, so I'm assuming has a good idea of his market already.

I agree though that Washington and/or his agent leaked this since we tend to run a tight ship. I'm not completely sure what the motivation is.

Up the ante from other suitors before accepting a Celtics trade? Surely other contenders are interested in him, too.

Not to get ahead of ourselves but if we sign up for a Brogdon trade which is only natural because he's our most tradable contract, we're going to really need to replace him or actually play Pritchard.

We'll go from it being a strength to a paltry backcourt of just Smart and White, neither of which are very good at creating offense for themselves or others. That suddenly becomes a priority.

The good news is finding a bench scorer is probably an easier thing to do than a guy like Zinger.

Building on this, the Grant Williams S+T becomes a real opportunity to find a way to access that market. You can probably find a decent playmaker with that. Nobody high level, but someone capable.

Sources: Wizards, Celtics and Clippers are in strong talks on a trade that would send Kristaps Porzingis to Boston, Marcus Morris and draft compensation to Washington and Malcolm Brogdon to Los Angeles. Sides are still working through details and Porzingis’ $36M player option.

Okay, so money wise I think a Brogdon+Gallo package would work money wise. Lets assume those two are shipped to a third team for assets that are flipped for KP.

At that price the deal makes SOME sense. KP opts in for next year at 36 million and becomes an expiring. Celtics get more expensive for NEXT year but get off the 22 million for Brogdon in 24-25, when Jaylen's extension kicks in and they become FAR more expensive. Its sort of a 1 year gamble on a guy who will still be only 28 next year. Unlike a guy like Ayton, KP is a good enough shooter that you can probably play any two of Horford/Rob/KP at a given time so having too many center isn't AS big a deal.

If all you give up is Brogdon+ other small asset or equivalent I'd like it. It simplifies the Celtics contract situation going forward and really beefs up the center position.

Remember, most of the reason the C's want to trade Brogdon is they don't want the extra year of his deal on the books when Jaylens contract kicks in. Shifting that to a guy essentially on an expiring makes sense.

The good news is that if we keep Pritchard he gets the playing time he's been asking for, and if we flip him backup point is one of the easier roles to fill with an NBA-quality player.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

Let’s also not forget that JB is part of the backcourt in his most natural position. If we get Zinger we’re going back to the two big lineup in some fashion, which pushes JB back to guard primarily leaving a good four man rotation of Smart, White, JB, and PP with JD as a reserve, too.

Will be interesting to see what we do with Grant.

So most of the draft compensation should come from LAC’s side then, as they’re clearly giving up the least amount in terms of player value. But we still have to give up something beyond Brogdon to make it work financially.

You're right but Jaylen Brown cannot create for himself let alone others. It's just a tough spec for him to be put in that role. Maybe it puts more pressure on Tatum to play a point forward role which I think he's much closer to doing than Jaylen.
