Brandon Jennings was the 3rd best player in that rookie draft class behind Tyreke Evans (RoY) and Steph. He outplayed every other rookie in that class during that rookie season.

Asterix for B Griffin who missed that rookie year with injury. Otherwise B Griffin would have outplayed B Jennings as well.

Third best at the time of the draft?  It seems a bit meaningless because teams draft for what players will develop into, not what they bring as rookies.

Poor Memphis.

That is the point he is making. That he was more talented than them at that age but those guys went on to have better careers.

He thinks he had more natural talent but failed to make the most of it. That was more talented than them and should have had a better career than them but he didn't.

Gilbert Arenas was on ESPN recently talking about Draymond Green thinkin the best era in NBA history was the 2015-19 era. Arenas said this is common for players. They often believe their own era was the best era and Draymond's best individual & team performances came within this era.

Brandon Jennings thinks similarly except for him his era was high school and entry into the NBA. He lives in that era (in his mind, I mean). At least that what it sounds like to me from listening to him speak on several topics like the quote above. That is his favourite era because that was his best. When he was better than all the other guys. When he was the best guard in the country coming out high school. When he scored 55pts in his 7th NBA game.

Oooh, that 55pts B Jennings dropped was on Steph Curry on the Warriors. No wonder Jennings thinks he is better than Steph.

Listening to B Jennings, he does not talk much about the rest of his career. He always focuses on high school and entry to the league. That was his peak (in his mind). He always goes back to it.

I don't think that that is what his argument is. I think he still thinks he is better than Jrue, etc.  That's why he is talking in the present tense.

Quote
I don?t think a lot of those players are better than me. Jrue Holiday has never been better than me in the game of basketball? He has a better career. They have better careers than me, they?re not better than me though

Jrue *has* been better than him, for over 80% of the time they each played in the NBA.

I mean, if you go back through and look at to the best middle school prospects have been, I guess they can say that at some point, they were better than Jrue Holiday as well.  Wasn't Avery Bradley rated as the top player in the country?  It doesn't make a lot of sense to say that he's better than Jrue, either.

It's delusional thinking.  Look at some of your peers.  For the average person, "peaked in high school" is a pretty sad description.

Best era IMO def 00 - early 10s. Everything went downhill after 2015 and the Curry 3-balls? I'll gladly take the one chip we won tho and the Finals appearances we had.

best era is a toss up between the 60's and 80's.  60's with the dominance of the C's and playing winning team basketball and the 80's with the incredible dominance of Bird and Magic with the incredible skills they brought to the game.  so many great players in the 80's with a great style of play (until the rise of the Detroit/NY thugs)

I'd give some serious thought to asking JB to cool it for the next week and a half.  He's been banged up for a while now.  Try to sit him until that Memphis game on 3/31.  We should be able to handle everybody else until then.

Personally, I'm 1000% okay with just letting Jaylen sit as much as he needs for his bone bruise.

Seriously, look at our remaining schedule. Outside of NY and Memphis, it's just filled with terrible teams and a few mediocre/play-in kind of teams. That's it. It's more important Jaylen is as healthy as possible come late April and beyond.

In a way, this could also allow guys like PP and even the younger ones like Scheierman to get some more minutes down the stretch which could potentially be impactful for their growth and experience if needed in the postseason for a little bit.

I wouldn't be against rotating a week's rest for Jrue, Horford and Porzingis as well, maybe in the beginning of April. All of them have always come back from some time off at different points this season and looked young/recharged.

Joe Mazzula looks like the psychopath he probably truly is. Also unsurprising that Luke Kornet has the biggest smile on the team.
