was in a discussion with some friends and thought it'd be an interesting topic to throw out here while we're in the all-star break doldrums.

what are the tastes/flavors that you absolutely cannot stand.  hate the taste where you will not eat it and/or if someone gets you to try something that has this taste you spit it out our even possibly vomit?  looking for things that other people would know, not necessarily "mom's meatloaf" which would only be specific to your experience.

for me, I can't stand the following:
- Rye bread/carroway seeds
- Caesar dressing
- black licorice (or licorice flavored anything)
- cilantro
- custard (on this one, it's a texture thing, makes me salivate like I'm going to hurl yet I'm fine with pudding)

I've had friends mention the likes of cottage cheese, cheese in general (texture for them too), hard boiled eggs (not a fan of these either), eggs in general, beer (yeah, go figure) and even garlic.

anyone have something they can't stand and like to share?

Ricotta cheese. It took me forever to figure out why I didn't like lesagna, it was a real revelation what I had some that was made without ricotta (and also explained my dislike of cheesecake, cannolis, and cheese ravioli)

I'll throw in buffalo sauce, too (I don't mind heat, but buffalo tastes and smells disgusting)
I'm bitter.

  • What a Pub Should Be
- Cucumber
- Ranch dressing
- Rum (admittedly self inflicted in college)
- Mayo
- Salmon

I'm sure there are plenty more.  Just off the top of my head.

Apple Cider Vinegar here, took it one night and had my appendix go out, was not connected but it ruined it for me.

I have to admit, you're the first one I've ever heard that doesn't like it.

anchovies - with you on that -> foundation of caesar dressing

haven't had Liver but have grown to really like liverwurst.  good liverwurst anyway.

yeah, took a while for me to come around on ricotta too.  my dislike for it kept me from eating lasagna for 30+ years

love them all although I get you on the rum.  couldn't drink vodka for years after one really bad episode in college.

mayo - can eat it by the spoonful (as long as it's Hellman's)
