In case it hasn't been clear to everyone before, last night's inspiring win over Cleveland should make one thing abundantly clear: we should NOT trade Bradley, Smart, IT, Turner, Crowder, maybe even a couple others. Brad has this TEAM playing like one. They are an overachieving, cohesive unit that fears no one. However, despite the big win last night, it should also be clear that we still need the right piece or two to become a team that can truly compete for a championship.

So how do we do that?

The addition of an elite scoring wing or center that fits Brad's style would put the Celtics in the conversation. It could be Cousins, Horford, Hayward, or someone else. The one thing we all know is this won't happen by trading Zeller, Johnson, or three mid-first round picks like Celtics, Dallas, or Minnesota. We will have to trade something of significant value in order to get something of significant value in return.

It's time to realize we CAN get to the next level very soon, but it will mean trading one of the Nets picks and at lesat one of our young, promising players. If we could add Horford or (unlikely) Cousins and only lose one Nets pick and Hunter, we will have made a huge step up, and will still control 2 more Nets picks and some other promising young players.

We could take the long path, and wait for this years Nets pick to develop (whoever it is), but that stretches the rebuild out further, and there are no guarantees with draft picks anyway.

I like the team we have very much and don't want to break it up. That leaves no choice but to 1) wait for picks and young players to develop which could take years (if ever) or 2) take the surer route and make a blockbuster trade involving a good young player and pick to accelerate the process.

Thoughts?
