Crap! They were so close ... Ugh, I can't see them holding on in extra-time.

It's Real Madrid's Cup to lose.

That was a great header though? They kept having chances after chances and it paid when it needed the most. That Atletico backline was great, guess they just got tired a bit.

If Juanfran is limping and trying hard to hold his line, why don't they switch the wings and put Gareth Bale on that side of the field?

Is it just me or that would be a good tactic?

Gut wrenching loss for Atletico.

2 minutes away from the Cup...

I would but Simeone sent JuanFran in the middle to have him covered but eventually it led to the second goal cause he wasn`t able to tackle properly and DiMaria got away ....

Although it was tough i don`t think Atletico deserved to win. I can`t blame Simeone for his tactics but placing a bus in front of Courtois is not something i like. Murinho recieved very tough comments for applying similar tactics

But in any case what atletico accomplished this season is amazing

BTW a few hours before the game there was another final with a money prize bigger than the CL final... England cChampionship playoff final. The winner gets the 3rd place and promotes to the EPL and gets more than 100m euros !!!!!!!!

Promotion to the Prem and a cool 134 million on the line, and Bobby Frickin' Zamora scores with QPR shorthanded?  Sounds too implausible to not be true, eh?!

'Appy 'Arry is gonna be really bummed when he realizes that FFP will limit his bung revenue this summer...

Atletico Madrid spent a lot less than QPR this season and won La Liga and got to the CL Final. QPR could barely scrape into the EPL via the playoffs.

Hopefully Redcr*p will get beaten every week next season and put to bed this nonsense about him being a great manager.

As far as the FPP goes, QPR violated the Football League's rules, but now they are in the EPL they may not be able to have the relevant penalties applied.

I have no idea about QPR :D  but a few days before the CL final i read an article about how much each finalist has cost.  I was amazed by how small was the amount for Atletico. And it`s a team than almost every summer sells high. Even this summer they got Demichelis on free transfer and a few days later they sold him to Chelsea for a couple of millions.

Manchester City bought Demichelis, not Chelsea. Both are irritating overspending clubs without notable history or pedigree though, so easy mistake to make  ;D

Generally I agree with your point though. Atletico's success has been a rare example of a smaller club doing really well in the Champions League. They will have a hard time next season though, I don't see Diego Costa, Courtois etc. still being there. Money talks unfortunately.

I spent time to remember his name and i got the club wrong :D

Diego Costa is gone and so seems Koke. But regardless i doubt they can repeat this amazing season mainly because their players (imho) can`t do any better I doubt they knew they can play at this level! Atletico mainly thanks to Simeone will remain relevant but won`t be real contenders of the CL nor the spanish league

But i sould very much liked to be a fan of atletico and experience this amazing season
