I like Oden becoming a celtic, yes its a risk but it can pay off greatly. And I dont think it kills our chances at making a run at dwight in 2012. If the big 3 retire, there will be space for dwight and some role players.
Imagine...rondo,green,dwight and a healthy oden?? not too bad just need a shooter or two and some bench play

I don't see how we would be able to afford him. We aren't exactly in a position to be bidding on him and I just don't see us being able to match other offers from around the league especially those teams with excess cap space

And this doesn't even get into the question about it being worth the money/risk

another factor i would consider is exactly how effective is he going to be given that he has already had all these injuries...he may be a shadow of what he was in his brief stints from the past couple years...it would be sad if he was out of NBA before his 25th birthday, but hey, there is no guarentees for these guys.

it would have to be a sign and trade and since that is the case I have no interest .

It would probably take something like Bradley, Green and BBD or picks to even have a chance. I wouldn't give up young trade pieces with potential for an injury prone big man .

It should. But on CB it rarely does.  :)

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Go for it.

Just make sure you over pay and steal the Suns medical and training staff.  They do a great job with players with long injury issues.

Nope.

If Oden plays well enough, sign and trade.

If Oden plays well enough and is healthy, I'd rather have him then Howard.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

That would be playing more then well enough.

That would have to be playing like one of the top 2 C in the league.

I do think that's possible if healthy.

agreed.... well that's if Oden does stay healthy. He's much younger than Howard and has a huge ceiling, shame that injuries ruined him

He wouldn't need to be better then Howard next year for me to rather have him.  I believe Oden has the potential to be significantly better then Howard.  He is bigger and has a much more varied offensive game.  Not too mention younger.  I do think there is a high probability that any time Oden will blow out a knee and be done forever, but he also might not.  Big Z had a lot of earlier leg issues that he got over and a very long productive career.

I would take Howard over him.

Right now, Howard is the top C in the league.  He is entering his prime.  He has already proven to be a centerpiece for a team that appeared in the finals.

Oden, after what would be on healthy season, still has to many questions marks.

totally.
Howard is the best center in the NBA. He is a proven player that has carried his team to the finals.

Greg is untested and may never get the chance to be tested because of his injuries.

I'd take Howard 100% over Oden no matter the price difference/situation. (as 99% of Celtics fans would I think too)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.
