Need help from someone who knows video editing

This shouldn't be an extremely complicated issue, but for some reason, I'm stumped. I recorded a video on my iPhone 4. It is a Quicktime video - every time I upload it directly to youtube, I get an extremely thin video (i.e. in portrait, even though I filmed it in landscape).

In Quicktime, it plays in portrait, but in VLC, it plays in landscape. Any way I can get it to landscape? I would like to keep the 720HD quality that the iPhone provides, if at all possible.
