Wizards getting very poor value for Butler, imo. Poor job by their gm.

They got cap relief - which was their big goal ... Howard is not guaranteed for 2011 ... Dallas still has Erick Dampier as a huge card to play ...
How's that?  Is there a big market for Dampier?  He's still got another year on his contract after this one.

The year is completely unguaranteed ... a team can deal for him and then cut him after the season - it is a de facto expiring deal ... Andre Miller's 2012 is the same - which is why he will be a big trade asset for the Blazers NEXT season

Ah.  I usually look at the Hoopshype salaries page, and they indicate whether the year is team option or player option, and they don't have that for Dampier.  If true, then yeah, that's a huge chip to play, because Haywood is way better than Dampier, so they could fill a position of greater need.
