Jimmy Haslem, owner of the Cleveland Browns, is purchasing Marc Lasry's share of the Bucks at a total valuation of 3.5 billion.  Lasry and Edens purchased the Bucks for 550 million in 2014.  So nearly a 7 fold increase in 9 years.

As a comparison, Ishbia just purchased the Suns for 4 billion.

So no need to feel sorry for owners when they have to pay luxury tax.

Agreed. Billionaires crying about a few million dollars is sad.

Another reason why these owners and teams should be building their own stadiums.
Still don't believe in Joe.

The only caveat to this is for the infrastructure that might need to be built out.  I'm ok with public funds there, similar to what Kraft got.  Otherwise, I agree, no public money for statdiums.

Right, I can stomach roads and other things. What I hate is the actual facilities being funded. Even worse is when they comeback in several years wanting renovations to add luxury boxes.
It will never end because of one city doesn't bend the knee, another will and the franchis is gone.
Still don't believe in Joe.

I'm old enough to remember when Flying J was getting investigated by the US Justice Department.

Forbes had the Suns at $2.7 billion.  Sportico listed them at $3 billion.  They sold for $4 billion.  That's about 148% of Forbes.

Forbes had the Bucks at $2.3 billion.  Sportico listed them at $2.43 billion.  They partially sold at an evaluation of $3.5 billion.  That's about 152% of Forbes

Forbes has the Celtics at $4 billion.  Sportico estimates they're worth $3.92 billion.

Fair to say that if the Celtics were brought to market that they'd be worth $5.5 billion - $6.0 billion?

So, yeah, don't feel bad for owners.  They're about to get another big bump in value with the new TV contracts, as well.

Pretty sure that Wyc and the boys got the C's for under 400 million. Not gonna weep for them paying the Luxury Tax for a couple of years---They should pay it EVERY year.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.
