Should the Celtics be interested in Reid as a backup center? He’s not even cracking 20 minutes a game behind Rudy Gobert in Minnesota and is a free agent in the off-season, so should be relatively cheap to acquire. Personally, I’m a fan of his game. He’s not the most mobile big out there but can stretch the floor and pass a bit. I think he could be decent insurance for Rob Williams, and probably wouldn’t cost much to retain him in the off-season. Thoughts?

I'd love to acquire him

Reid is a guy I hate watching when he’s on another team.  I don’t know if that means I’d love him or hate him on the Celtics, but I think I’d have a strong opinion of his play.

But as an acquisition, he shouldn’t be expensive as a half-season rental.  I’m not convinced the C’s would make a strong effort to resign him, but having his Bird rights would make it easy to do so if the dollars made sense.

He'd be a great pickup. A quality reserve big man behind Horford and Rob Williams.

I think he'd be a solid big off the bench.  shouldn't cost much to retain next season.  question is what it would cost to get him.  would gladly do Jackson and a second but doubt that would entice Minny.   if they want someone who could actually play, I'd have to think really hard about that even if it was Blake or PP.

Given the market that was just set in the Rui trade to the Lakers I don't think Reid is an unrealistic trade target. I do doubt that BS makes a trade without a strong feeling that he can retain Reid after this season.

He is the type of big that makes sense for the Cs. He can play center but also the AL style PF role next to Rob. To me this makes him a much better fit then Poeltl.
